I actually move my preorders at Gamestop around more than they'd probably like. Right now, my current ones are Heavy Rain (PS3), Persona (PSP), Infinite Space (DS), Bayonetta (PS3), and Scribblenauts. Just cashed in my preorder for The Beatles Rock Band and Muramasa for the Wii. I'm pretty sure those preorders are not going anywhere.


As for the question at hand, it depends on what's worth more to you, the $15 gift card or whatever, or the rooster hat. SOMETHING tells me that if Scribblenauts does what it's poised to do (marcus' early critique notwithstanding), in the long run, the rooster hat might be a better keepsake (or investment, depending on how you wanna look at it) than a $15 gift card.

My question is why pre-order a game that other outlets are sure to have in abundance? You're basically just giving GameStop $5 it can invest however it sees fit. Banks do that, but at least you're earning interest.

Mora: Yeah, for mass market stuff, you're right. The preorder bonuses make it worthwhile. And the more niche stuff is always good to preorder, so it guarantees that you'll get it, and it'll help get more copies of the same title into the Gamestop you preordered it at.

but me? I could never justify guying any other game this week over scribblenauts, something that does need the support, does need to get more copies into stores. mario and luigi, yes, I want it. but its not going anywhere, it'll still be on the shelves next to mario kart DS in two years.
