Life's a pain in the ass for me.

You guys probably didn't expect to see my ugly mug again, but here goes:

Well, things were going okay for me here at Boot Camp. However, at some point, my RDCs (Recruit Division Commanders) seemed to think I was having quite a bit of trouble focusing on things here. At first I thought they thought I was being lazy.. But then it didn't go away. I was sent to see a psychologist (or maybe it was Psychiatrist) a few times, and at one point I was given a shocking diagnosis: I have ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyper Disorder), which is a condition in which a person has trouble c`oncentrating on simple tasks, or something. Whatever the case, I was told ADHD would get in the way of my Duties, no matter what my job would be in the NAVY, so I was sent to the Separations department. I'm current'y awaiting a general Discharge and heading back to my family as a civilian.

    Yep, life sucks.

I've wondered if I've had that, or something similar, pretty much all my life. It's hard for me to stay focused on one thing where my mind tends to go all over the place.

But anyway, I'm sorry to hear that. At least you tried, right? Are you worried about finding work otherwise? Well, don't beat yourself up about this. I had a habit of thinking about my military past, second-guessing and wondering "If only I didn't do/have/think/etc...such-and-such" to the point where it'd literally drive me nuts. But not everyone has the same experience in the military, branch choices aside. And like I had to learn the hard way, it isn't for everybody. Sorry to hear that you didn't get what you wanted. Good luck, though.

Yeah, I did try. It just sucks because I was planning on using the money to help my dad with his mortgage problems. But I guess I can just get a regular job and still give my dad a cut of my paycheck.

Wow, I was using the money for my fiancee's schooling. So I know how it feels to do that more so for somebody else than just for yourself. And yeah, just keep saying to yourself "This ain't over" (about life, not the military; Life ain't over), and don't quit. The worst thing you could do is just lay down and give up. I know that sounds corny and it isn't very original advice but I've surprised myself on just how motivating that can be. Again, good luck.

I think everyone has ADHD to a varying degree. ADHD could just be something to call someone that they don't understand or cannot categorize.

And it's usually misdiagnosed as ADD.

I can tell you first hand that boot camp is specifically designed to kick as many people out as possible. It's even worse now under Obama as the Navy and Airforce are cracking down hard due to downsizing. Even the Army, which under Bush would accept anyone who could follow orders and pull a trigger, is beginning to kick people out who've made one single slip up in their entire careers.

I wonder how Biggie is doing...
