    FF XII Perfect File

I have been flirting with this idea for a very long time, and have finally decided to go for it. I will be trying to get a perfect file on my favorite game in the whole world, Final Fantasy 12. Why spend so much time on a game, you ask? Well, there's a lot of reasons. I'm a perfectionist and a tad bit OCD, I like doing things really nobody else has done, I like repetition in all it's forms, I love collecting things, as well as other reasons.

I do not play FF XII constantly every day, just a few hours a day. I am not some addicted, obese gamer who sits on his bum and does nothing. I have college classes and friends, and have other hobbies as well, like art, piano, and lifting weights. This is not the thread to discuss why this idea is stupid and why I am a loser who is wasting his time, as these kinds of posts will be ignored!

Now, with that said, let me tell you what I'm aiming for to get a 'perfect' file:

-99 of every item (or as high as possible) This is weapons, armor, accessories, ammunition, usable items, and loot. I'm not including key items, because some you have to give away/trade/etc for the storyline or quests.

-Max time. This means your game clock is 999:99:99 hours. Not that hard to do if you leave your PS2 on without playing a lot like me.

-Max gil. This is 99,999,999 gil. It is one goal that can be reached while working on other 'perfect file' requirements.

-Max Liscense Points. Having 99,999 LP for each character

-Max steps. 9,999,999. Again not hard to do, rubber band+controller+mobless area. It's not hard, but takes a while.

-Max Clan Rank. This is 99,999,999 points and Order of Ambrosia (meaning sky pirate's den complete, all hunts complete, etc.) This might be the hardest goal out of them all.

-Max EXP. Of course this means everyone is level 99 with 99,999,999 exp. This is pretty reasonable, considering my normal playthrough I had about 13 million exp without grinding a whole lot.

The only thing I will not try to get perfect is everyone's HP/MP. There's just not enough techniques known yet how to manipulate the HP/MP level up bonuses effectively.

Well, that's about it. I hope at least one person here will be following this project of mine.

To me a perfect file is not just maxing out random statistics, but having at least 1 of every item in the game, doing all sidequests and having everything in the game that is possible to have for every character. Usually in doing this all your characters will be at max level, and doing all the little achievement type things along the way is just bonus. The rest is just... meh. But good luck to you.

Speaking as a person who has his own perfect file of FFXII, I have to say that what you're describing isn't really a perfect file, it's more of a "perfect-est" file.

Most of those tasks are completely extraneous and not worth your time. You only need six of any given piece of equipment or accessory, and any more are pointless to keep. For some of that equipment it's simply unnecessary stress and BS no one should put themselves through.

Getting a single Danjuro took me seven and a half hours. Go ahead and multiply that by 99. Your first Zodiac Spear is easily enough attained, but what about the other 98? You're really going to do the insufferably boring "run to where the chest is and pray that the one-in-a-thousand chance hits, reset and try again if it isn't"? Same goes for the Zodiac Escutcheon.

I can keep going on and on about just the equipment, but really, I shouldn't have to. You say you like repetition but, really, it's a waste. Instead of doing this, go do those things you talked about doing; your art, your music, etc. Or at least tone it down and simply go for a "perfect" file. Either way, you'd be better off in the end.

Actually, obtaining rare equips from chests like the Zodiac Spear is not hard at all with the new RNG method. If you haven't heard of it, it is a method of messing with your PS2's random number generator for the game.

You do a cold start up of your PS2, and find a chest you want to get a rare item from. You have to be unequipped and wearing a cameo belt too. You start hitting yourself over and over, doing 0 damage. By observing the patterns when you get combos during hitting yourself, you can detect what pattern your PS2 is putting random numbers out. It all boils down to once you get a 5 hit combo, you will get the rare item if you go straight to it and open the chest up, 100% guranteed! This whole method was developed by FF12Maniac, a regular at fftogether.com, gamefaqs.com, and youtube.com

Basically, if the chest appears (the Z spear chest has ten percent chance to appear) then it's a 100% chance to get it if you follow the RNG method. So you have a 1/10 chance instead of 1/1000. I will not discuss the RNG method in depth in this topic because it is really too long to get into, but it works perfectly everytime, and makes finding the random percentage stuff in chests way easier.

I've heard of the RNG method and seen videos for it, but my point still stands at least about the rare drops from rare enemies.

Seven and a half hours, man. For one Danjuro. It scars me to this day.

You're more patient than me, salamander. I'd go crazy trying to do a perfect file of that game. And I'm too proud to cheat, so I couldn't do this. Baldur's Gate? Yeah, I could try. Earlier Final Fantasy games, probably. This one? Eh...I'd fail horribly. I don't have that much dedication. Haha. I got to admire yours though, I couldn't do this.

On my file, I got everyone to level 99 and had everyone learn everything. Perfect enough for me. The "Psycho Basch" trick helps too.

What's that? Put him in berserk+haste status with Masamune and Genji gloves at critical HP? That's the only psycho looking thing I've ever seen.
