    The GOP is insane

Not conservatives, the party. They're going ape**** over Obama making a "stay in school" speech to kids. Bush the first did this when I was in school. Now because it's not their guy, he's a fascist leader trying to hypnotize the younguns with his crazy talk.

Yeah, they keep yelling "freedom liberty freedom" and then when they're elected they're going to jam their judeo-christian laws down our thoats. Sorry just had to get that off my chest.

    Re: The GOP is insane

I was flabbergasted when I saw a facebook poll that showed over %60 respondents thought it was wrong for him(Obama) to give the speech without parental consent.

The hateful comments (from conservatives AND liberals), peppered with nonsensical arguments, have revived a deep hatred for humanity within me.

      Re: The GOP is insane

In 1991, President George H.W. Bush delivered a nationally televised speech to students from a Washington school, encouraging them to say no to drugs and work hard.
No uproar back then. ZOMG double standard.

Any parent that listens to the advice of a politician that says to take their child out of school "to protest" is insane.
        ...and that's why.

I say take your kids out of school.

Deprive them of historical lies, propaganda, religion, and shallow materialistic peers.

they're not upset about the speech - they're upset with the "suggested" follow-up questions that they want the teachers to ask their students.

which are pretty dubious and ideological.

Reagan spoke to kids way back when preached to them the glories of Tax cuts. Democrats were up at arms at the time. I see no problem with a presidential student address.

Which makes little difference since teachers are usually left-leaning anyway unless you're deep in the heart of a red state, and the kids get this indoctrination every day in the various social science classes.

This uproar is overblown too, conservatives are wasting time complaining about minor issues instead of focusing on more serious long-term concerns.

I can see if parents don't want Obama to use this opportunity to try to sell the current health care debate or some other issue to the kids; kids, particularly those in grade school, are too young to fully understand the issues, and some parents don't want to discuss this at the dinner table or something (particularly if the parents have an agreement between them not do bring up politics because they know they disagree but want to make the relationship work). But even then, this uproar is disproportionate.

Perhaps if this dude stayed in school he would have learned how to spell.

And stuff like this is why the left calls the GOP stupid. And I say that as a right-leaning individual who's getting tired of being embarrased by these people.
