Here's what's new.

when you press the PS button, the battery life indicator will no longer cover up the clock.

Not that this ever bothered me, but it's nice to see that they actually fixed that.

apparently everyone was bombarding he servers so alot of people werent able to get on the PSN. Alot of people arent liking the new look of the Friend List, but i dont really have an issue with it.

meh. if people don't like it, sony will change it back. thats the nice thing about having incremental firmware upgrades.

Also you can output audio to multiple connections at once.

Oh, yeah. I remember reading that rumor a while back. Actually, that's REALLY nice. That way, I can have audio going through via HDMI for games, movies, etc, and have a different input on my receiver where I do not care about the audio for something else I'm doing and route it through toslink.

Yeah...I remember reading that "massive overhaul" rumor a while back too. I guess it's not AS massive as the NXE thing, but seems to redesign things quite a bit.


I've not downloaded it yet, though, so I don't 100% know. I've not even turned on my 360 to download THAT new firmware yet, either.

I liked the PS3 going straight to my games. not whatever sony decides to throw in my face. 360 does the same ****.

You CAN turn off "What's New" in your system settings. Don't know if that just means that box at the top right of the screen, or the entire option.

You're supposed to be able to "bookmark" or "favorite" parts of the Playstation Store, but I've not figured out how to do so yet.

Also, with the multiple audio out, it sucks that it downconverts to 5.1 at 44.1/48 kHz for the HDMI and to 2.0 for the other connection. That means that if you wanted multiple audio outputs, you'd have to go in and change it each time if you wanted to optimize the sound for HDMI normally. This kinda defeats the purpose of having multiple audio outs, as I really cannot see a reason to have more than one out at a time, and thought it was mainly for the convenience factor of not having to go in and switch your settings each time you wanted to change outputs. Le sigh.
