    School?

Well I'm moving away to college tomorrow and I was curious how many of you are in college or about to enter college or are past college or never went or whatever. I know I'm not nearly as active on here as I used to be, but back in the day (ahem like 2 years ago) when I used to visit this place more than once a day, I used to figure everyone was in college or out of high school except me. Well I'm guessing that's not the case but I'm still curious more or less, so I thought I'd make a poll, just to be semi-creepy and whatnot.

So where are you in your schooling? Or are you out of academia?

First year in college is a blast if you know what your'e doing, but be warned. I know several people, including my younger and older brothers, who spent their newfound freetime doing everything but schoolwork and studying, and ended up being forced to drop out from low grades.

Don't let it happen to you!
    ...and that's why.

That happened to me my sophomore year.

I was able to transfer most of my credits to another school system, but it still set me back quite a bit. Right now I'm in my Senior year, and I'm trying to decide if I really want to pursue a 2nd degree / Master's Degree.

Going to class is the most important thing. I know that sounds obvious--but it makes all the difference in the world. Half of my recent classes didn't require me to study a damn thing--and I only went to class.

I have been out of college for 5 years now. Just as along as you keep your wits about you and remember that it is not one giant party you will be find.

My first attempt at college I spent the first semester living at home and the second living in the dorm. I accomplished absolutely nothing educationally or recreationally. Third semester I dropped out and continued to accomplish nothing. Second attempt I went to a 2-year school and took longer than 2 years (mostly because classes I needed to progress would get cancelled) to earn an associate's degree. I continue to accomplish nothing. Before the end of the year I plan to start working on my bachelors online.

          So yeah.

            Re: School?

I am -literally- forced back to wrap up a second major while I apply to grad school (issues with loans, needing to have a certain student status on my med insurance, and lots of FUN welcome-to-the-real-world type stuff).

Ummm, balance. Take class seriously but pressure yourself to go out and make friends too. This might sound all hippy but college is an opportunity to grow and learn new dimensions of yourself as well as becoming educated. I am NOT at all the person coming out that I was going in (and I'm damned happy for it).

But honestly, school doesn't end after graduating college, where's my option? :V

What jacquel said. Class is important, but college is a great opportunity to grow as a person, socially, emotionally, and intellectually.

I've been out of high school for 7 years. It's been real fun, I can tell you.

I'm currently looking into classes at a 2-year school nearby, most likely business, since I've wanted to start my own record/video/game store for quite a long time now.

I'm a freshman at a junior college and I'm getting an associates of art. Since it's so close to my house, I'm living at home with my parents to save munny, which sucks.

                          Re: School?

I got my degree. Going to class all the time helped. I never had a problem with that, since I treated college like any other job. I love to party, but I only indulged in that when I was done with my work.

I would've gone to grad school, but my parents aren't rich and neither am I. I don't miss the endless BS (aka: required classes), but I do miss all the studio time (and the studio).

So, uh, do your work, but remember to have fun. Good luck.

Besides a few classes for work, I have no idea what the "college life" is all about. Some say it sucks, others say it's awesome. Guess its what one makes of it like just about anything else. Much luck and what not.

I took some college classes half-time my senior year of high school, along with this past year at the community college. I'm nine credits away from my Associate's in Arts degree and will probably finish that up this next summer.

I'm transferring to the University of Minnesota to get my BA in Art. Classes start on Tuesday. Gettin' my books and bus pass today. I've got one class that ends at nine on Wednesdays and my mother is freaking out- I guess there have been a couple rapes down here. She's paranoid.

                              Mehhhhh, school.
