Well I have hit some issues with my story. I have three possible ways for the story to go. Still not sure which way to go. 1) I could have my hero steal a scroll from the kingdom, 2) have them sneak into a kingdom steal a map and then be captured, and 3) have them some how get mixed up in a war between two kingdoms and they are forced to choose sides. It is so frustating being stuck with my game.

Re: Story confusion
dont pick the last option, thats so over used that its written in the 10 commandments at the bottom in fine print "thu shalt not use thy war cliche"
the first option isnt too bad but i think the second is the best. use the map as a central theme, perhaps its the only map of the world that exists. since you couldnt steal it you decide to map the world yourself and embark on a huge journey to see the world and see a lot of crap along the way.
cookie cutter stuff sucks, its always flat and generally doesnt add to your game. if you go anywhere close to that route then at least spice it up with something that is new.

Re: Story confusion
It doesn't seem like the first two options are really that different except for what's being stolen. And getting captured. As for the third option, since I know absolutely nothing about the story, I can't suggest this one either.
Perhaps they/he sneak into the kingdom to steal whatever - against his own code of honor because he's backed into a corner or something - and when they/he get captured, the leader of the kingdom understands the motives behind their treachery and conscripts them into the war between these kingdoms. Re: Story confusion
Let me try to give more information. The party needs the scroll to help save the main character from a curse. I just don't want them to give it to the party. I really want the party to be forced to make a moral decision. I'm really leaning towards having the party being forced to steal the map - only to find out that they still will not receive the scroll. From their it could force one of the members to take a stand and try to steal the scroll. Plus that would give me a chance to try to make a stealth section in the game. Just need to get it worked out in my mind.

Re: Story confusion
Yeah I have hit a road block in the story. I have really bad writers block. So in the mean time I've been just creating a simple game with rpgm3. Right now I've been calling it Sara's Heart. You play a 20 something orphan who is going out on her own to try to find out about her past and her family in the land of Zenchi. Most of the game play will be exploration. Not sure if anything will come of it, and SV is just kind of in limbo right now. It hasn't died yet, it is just resting.
