So I got into the MAG Beta

Downloading now, but I hear there's a bigger update once you get the game started.

I wonder how hectic and laggy it's gonna be.

If you applied for the MAG beta, you might want to check your inbox, because successful applicants are having their beta download codes sent out as you read this.

Some fun facts to go along with the news: the download is just under 2.5GB, and like some other betas, it has limited opening hours, namely between 1000-1300 and 1700-2000 PDT, Monday through Friday.

Kind of limiting, we know, but hey, at least you could do some proper beta work with those times; Sony need help demoing the game at GamesCom this week to those on the showroom floor, so from Wednesday through Sunday people logging in around midnight might find themselves in the unpaid service of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe!

i got into the beta too. I'll be downloading it tonight too. Cant wait to see what this game is like.

Ok, everything's downloaded. Damn thing kept giving me connection errors (uh oh), but thankfully it keeps what was downloaded so no need to start all over.

Now I just gotta wait for when the servers open up to start playing.

Seems pretty cool so far.

I understand the need to have large maps, but it can be very confusing at first.

So far only 2 factions are here, and the total number is a little over 60 players per team. Not quite the full amount of players they were bragging about.

Very few options when creating your character's appearance, but considering the number of people running around, it makes sense not to have too much to slow things down, plus no one is really going to stop and look at you.

When low on ammo and health, there are supplies near your team's side to refill on everything.

Does kinda skip like a broken record when it tries to respawn you sometimes, but nothing game freezing.

When you do spawn, the screen starts off black (like Socom Confrontation), and I really hate that.

But so far, things to be running good.

I havent played in a while, but Gou, i'm pretty sure they removed the whole black smoke thing from Socom Confrontation in one of the recent patches.

the 1.50 patch for Socom is out now, so you might as well download and play that instead(if you still have the game).
