I played this last year right around the time when my mom died and it made me incredibly, incredibly sad. I think the game clearly works well if this kind of thing is already kicking around in your head.
It's cute, and all. I like how you start from the left side of the screen and slowly move to the edge of the right (as time flows, not as you move), and how uncomfortable it feels to not be able to see ahead of you further illustrating that you're approaching "The End". I also like how he distorts the other ends of the spectrum, making "the past" or "the future" seem distant and unclear from a distance (depending on your point in the game).
With all that said, I don't understand the need for a Score. I let my character die when my wife died, meaning that I sat there and didn't move any further after that. "Lingering in the past", if you will.
