"Man, you *know* that's what REALLY happened..."

I'm talking about all of those times in games that weren't obvious or questionable, but may have insinuated or led one to believe something may have happened in the story. Often fans will have beliefs as to what may have occurred or what not. There's always somebody that wants to say "Oh, come on, you know that's what *really* went down in that part!" I've also heard this around this other forum I went to with these particular scenes and I always thought it was humorous to think about.

I wound up calling it "Fan-fic wonder". I'm guilty of this to a minor degree with certain things but I understand that like movies, video games also have cut and deleted content. And sometimes accidently leave distorted plots that mislead the player to believe something happened that may not have. That's kind of what this thread is about.

For those that played Final Fantasy Tactics.

    *** SPOILERS ***
Valmafra's rape (Balmafula in the original). Valmafra's a double agent of the church sent to kill Delita. Delita knows this and plays Valmafra until the moment she's about to kill him. She can't kill him because she fell in love/admires him and Delita doesn't kill her because he sees himself in her eyes. Delita approaches her slowly and the camera pans away. A woman's scream is heard before a fade-to-black.

The next time you see Valmafra, she doesn't speak, even when directly addressed, and only nods her head when asked questions. She's the one who spots Ramza and instead of speaking she simply points. No one knows what happens in this scene but everyone speculates Delita either rapes her or cuts her tongue out.

    *** END SPOILERS ***

That reminds me of the Cloud and Tifa thing. There is a bunch of these "you know they did it"'s but the most popular one I think seems to be the bit on the crater. I still say they slept together and nothing happened...

      Nah....

Yeah... and Cloud didn't feel up Tifa while sleeping next to her after the intro.

Further more, Cloud and the gay trio sat around in the hot tub looking manly and nothing else.

        Nothing. Else.

Yeah, that was a little disturbing. And I actually did speculate if that happened on the crater. I didn't take it to heart like some people did. But the whole Sector 6 Market thing was wierd, and the cross-dressing bit. This is something from Final Fantasy VIII now that I started over and got to playing it again..sort of a minor plot hole but this got me thinking.

Squall's final exam is to defeat Ifrit in the Fire Cavern, right? But the other students really don't go into what their final tests were? Maybe they had to fight Ifrit too, or something else?

Sometimes I forget how madcap FF7 really is. Like the whole "mad Scientist trying to force a female human of an extinct race to mate with a Lion who talks" thing.

I've heard this mentioned a couple times before, but I still don't know what you guys are talking about. I've played the game several times before and have yet to see such a thing. I don't really care to see, but it just drives me nuts that I am appearantly the only person that has no idea what you guys are talking about.

It's in the Honey Bee Inn. There's also a room where Cloud passes out and is revived by gay sex.

You remember the entire section of the game where Cloud had to cross dress to infiltrate Don Corneo (Mr. Horny) mansion? In the Honey Bee Inn, take the left room to take a bath with a bunch of body builders who teach Cloud how to wash properly. They reappear in that snow town.

The room on the right is a dominatrix room and you can peak through the key hole to see a chick in a honeybee costume having sex with a guy and zapping him with lightning bolt.

FF7 was really, really bizarre. Cloud falling into a coma and mumbling "Zenogais." Pretty much every scene with Hojo in it. Stealing Tifa's orthopedic underwear (I can't imagine the back problems she gets). Going on a date with Barret. A Japanese flavored far eastern country (which looks suspiciously like a certain real world country only flipped around) that just so happens to be at war with the capitalist nation...

Tactics notwithstanding, Final Fantasy is at its best when it doesn't take itself too seriously. It's probably why I like FF9's setting the most.

I was implying that my favorite Final Fantasy's are the light hearted ones. FF7, FF6, and FF9. All three games have their LOL GRIMDARK moments but for the most part they're pretty lighthearted and off-the-wall (especially FF6 where every time something bad happened it was followed up by something weird like fighting the three stooges or the grand opera scene followed by a fight with Mr. Puntastic).

I'd rather they find a tone and stick to it!

But maybe that's not what Final Fantasy is about.

                            Anymore, at least.

FF doesn't seem to be about anything other than Japanese fads.
