    XBox 360 Fumble...

I'm officially a ******-off camper. Okay, I got an update from a new game cd...then restarted my system and now all my data is gone. My profile and all my achievements are G-O-N-E. Gone. I'm not using a modded chip or anything like that. I didn't tamper with it at all, so I'm guessing this is an extremely rare problem but I may be wrong. Gah! I mean I didn't have tons of points (I had like 1000 something) but it still sucks to lose all my damn saves and achievements only to have to earn them over again. The update went well but it seems like the whole system "defaulted" on me or something... how weird...and irritating. Either that or I did something and wasn't paying attention or something. either way...I'm bummed

You cant loose your achievements. Its all saved on Xbox Live, but all your saves will be gone unless theres something you can fix.

after installing updates, you have to sign in again. go to profiles. yorus should be listed. if not, you can recover your account. instructions are at xbox.com

your saves could still be on the system, and will be available again when your account is signed in.

achievements can vanish, but only if you're playing Fallout 3. (yes, there's documented cases of achivements not only failing to trigger, but wiped from your profile due to in-game bugs)

eh...being the fact that I'm not "in" Xbox Live yet, I think I'm pretty much screwed. Hah. And funny you mention that, Valk. I was playing Fallout 3 before I updated it, but I'm not sure if that was the case or not, though. Dammit... Ah well....

you sure it didnt just sign you out of your profile? it signs me out of my profile after every update, and I just have to go to the profile section and sign back in.

I guess so...yeah, it didn't delete the profile, but the data and achievements are all gone. Eh... that kinda sucks. I mean I didn't have like a gillion points or anything like that, but that's a bit of a let down.

Edit: No wait nevermind, just the achievements went AWOL on me...WTF?...Ah well...could be worse. Such as Red Rings of Death or something like that...

It's amusing that you are just now upgrading the NXE update, considering the next major update is coming in less than a month.

Also, as long as you have high speed internet at your house (is anyone really still on dialup anymore?), you don't need to pay the $50 a year to get online. You can get a silver account for free, which enables you to download games, demos, videos, etc. Plus, if you go online at least once, you might have a better chance to fix any problems you are having (not sure, though...I've never REALLY been offline with my 360).

I use a USB Wireless Modem, and it works like Dial-Up. So going online with my 360 isn't going to be happening anytime soon. That and I got the updates with the Fallout 3 Expansion CD. I've never been online with my 360 since I've had it.

No. DVD stands for Digital Versatile Disc, meaning, video (movies), data, and video games.
