This will come as a surprise to no one who has followed the rampant milking of the Guitar Hero franchise since Activision took over. Band Hero, a "family-friendly" version of the now full band GH games is coming and makers of GH On Tour and Modern Hits, Vicarious Visions, will be making a DS version. Unlike PSP's Rock Band it'll keep the multiplayer instrument play, as best it can. You can link 4 DSs to play guitar, bass, drums, and vocals as a group.
But that's not the ridiculous part. Like it's big brother the DS game will have an instrument bundle which includes the game, the guitar grip created for On Tour and a new drum grip.
It's basically a silicon sleeve that wraps around the DS and places color-coded drum pads over the d-pad and face buttons. It ONLY fits the DS Lite system further limiting the compatibility of the portable franchise.
EDIT: Oops, I assumed from the screenshot you can drum on the touch screen but it turns out you can't.
