    Gesture Drawing

Here's a really cool flash application:
    http://www.posemaniacs.com/?pagename=thirtysecond

It's a really good way of learning to draw people. I just spent 4 straight hours doing them, and I already feel more comfortable with angles and poses I never really attempted to conquer.

Not a complete substitute for live models, since you're viewing these on a two dimensional plane, but still pretty cool.

      NO KIDDING

thought I'm pointing out the gesture drawing. Using another image for drawing legit art? You really shouldn't.

That site is my new best friend. I'm having a little trouble sketching so quickly, though; even in under a minute.

don't worry about details. it's about capturing the motion and weight in as few lines as possible. It's about breaking down drawing, getting across the subject in very few lines. make sure you read the tips on the site too, if you haven't.

I find it really useful in identifying my weaknesses in drawing.

I seem to like using the random pose viewer more, and taking my time, heh heh. I guess I'll have to get over my perfectionism tendencies if I'm ever going to do quick gestures.

This is pretty neat~ You can even take what you've sketched and turn it into a full blown drawing if you like the pose enough.

I can see myself forcing my to-be art students to use this program~

They got a random pose view for the iTouch as well. ...except that it longs onto the online database so you have to have a wi-fi connection to use it. They are promising an offline database with the next update but who knows when that will be.

Alternatively, one can acquire a girlfriend and have her regularly pose nude for you.

Or just a friend if they're miraculously comfortable with that sort of thing.

There's also a somewhat nifty program called Poser, which I'm pretty sure has a trial version.
