    Don't brutalize my candy coating

Just so Mora can play too. :3

As in the other topic I made tonight, except with film. Top five most brutal and top five sweetest (not in the slang meaning, either) films that you've seen.

    BRUTAL
-In the Company of Men (No violence to be found...it's all in the dialogue)
-Bad Lieutenant (This is the Free Forum)
-Boys Don't Cry (Maybe just because I identify somewhat~)
-Funny Games (Almost no violence...it's all in the tone)
-I Stand Alone (Do not watch this film...it's seriously WAY, WAY too much)

Honorable mention to River's Edge and Bully

SWEET (possibly of the bitter variety)
    -Roman Holiday (I cried)
    -Before Sunrise (I cried)
    -Tully (I cried)
-Before Sunset (I tried to cry)
    -High Fidelity (I laughed)

I don't know about sweet, but I watched Turner and Hootch today and was almost cried when the dog died.

Brutal = Irreversible (I threw up during a particular scene)

              Sweet = Finding Nemo
              ------------
Guan Yu: "Is your lord Cao Cao still alive?"

Xiahou Dun: "He says he can't die until you do!"
              ------------

Re Misery: The book was worse...she chops his foot off with an axe. She also cuts one of his fingers off, and places it atop a birthday cake she makes for him the next day or something.

Re Irreversible: I was gonna put that in the five I listed, but last minute remembered I Stand Alone. Also, that scene didn't affect me all that much, sad as that is. That scene, along with everything else in the film, does put it pretty high on the list, though. Boys Don't Cry's "scene" affected me more. Much more painful for me.

And guess what? Both Irreversible AND I Stand Alone are directed by the same guy, Gaspar Noe. Imagine that!

Yeah, Gaspar Noe has a way of portraying cruel truth in a rather controversial way. I couldn't make it through the rape scene the first time I watched it, it made me feel sick. Which is weird, I can normally stomach brutal scenes in movies fairly well. But Irreversible was a tad much on brutality and revenge.

Taken as a whole, I Stand Alone is much, much worse.

I never seen it but people familiar with Noe's work have recommended it for me after I bring up Irreversible, for some reason.
