Because it's human nature that people will always try to get things for free?

Look at Mister Moral High Road(or is it Mora High Road? olol) here.

Admittedly, I used the site, but only to find episodes of MST3K (before anyone says anything, I haven't and will never download an episode that was made available for purchase).

Who cares. There are still a TON of other huge torrent sites out there that people use. They just arent as well known as Piratebay. This isnt going to change anything.

It's the sense of entitlement they have toward getting games for free being expressed on a news site for the game industry they claim to enjoy. It is pretty distasteful.

I know it sickens me that people are crying about a pretty bare bones torrent site that didn't care about virus files and had several large companies tracking your ip to send your service provider cease and desist letters. There are much better, private trackers available :P

It is distasteful. I'm not going to flat out lie by saying I've never pirated software before, but the people who post on other forums and /v/ are pretty sickening.

I just got an iPhone, and people who utilize piracy on the device brought about by Cydia and the jailbreaking/unlocking process are the worst kinds scum alive.

"WTF INSTALLOUS WON'T WORK ON THIS IT WORKS FOR EVERYTHING ELSE WHATS WRONG IT KEEPS CRASHING HELLLP. WHO PAYS FOR APPS ANYWAYS THATS RETARDED ROFL."

Dude. iPhone games are like, 5 bucks a piece. If you can't afford that, how the **** did you get that iPhone in the first place? Oh wait, your parents probably bought it for you and you're probably only 12 years old. :I

Case in point, who the **** needs an iPhone? That's right no one.

This is all a bunch of crap we don't need, so, why pay for it? Maybe some lazy game designers that fail at their job anyway (assuming you like quality products) will quit and find a job doing something that actually contributes to something, egh?

If you don't need it, why would you want it enough to steal it?

Need and want are two different things there Johnny.

                        So theft is okay?

Serious? Why does anyone steal? It's not like people steal bread and cheese, they steal 'wants'.

And many people steal these things, obviously because they are over-priced. If you aren't lucky enough to be born by chance into certain areas, one videogame could run you $120. I'm always happy to buy a game for 20 dollars, but that's only when it's used or a greatest hit.

Anyway, it makes more sense that you spend the little money you have on needs like food and housing and such, and steal wants like toys.

Where would we be if everyone was stealing food, and paying for plastic?

Yeah, stealing something that doesn't physically exists could get you put in jail, but you can be paid to murder innocent people. Are we really having this conversation under the context that the world makes sense?

I wasn't saying that you should steal anything. Because you shouldn't.

It must be because I'm such a damn hermit and don't care for the five-finger discount but, could someone enlighten me on what is so "awesome" about Pirate Bay? And how exactly do torrent sites make money, anyway?
