Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 (Includes Some Story Info)

    http://marvelultimatealliance.marvel.com/#/Media

It appears that Vicarious Visions and Activision are going with the Civil War story arc, which is kind of sad in a way but from what I see on their website and in all the videos, it shows a lot of promise. And I was happy to see Captain America smack the crap out of Tony Stark

As I said, it takes the story from the more current civil war in the Marvel Universe between superheroes, as the Superhuman Registration Act had finally passed and moved for support by the Senate. Forcing superheroes Pro-Reg (such as Iron Man and Mr. Fantastic), and those against this that are Anti-Reg (like Captain America, and apparently Luke Cage). So there is kind of a split as far as things go. Although I am a bit disappointed that *** SPOILERS ***
the cliffhanger at end of the first game (with Galactus targeting Earth) is going to mean nothing I guess...
    *** END SPOILERS ***

But anyway, I'm sure I'm gonna get at least one person to troll this thread because they can. Am I the only one that seems to be anticipating this game? ....Err....am I the only comic book nerd on this web community?

Not at all but I don't read superhero comics.

I've always meant to play the top down Marvel action games but never got around to buying one. Can't say I care about this game at all but if I see a copy of Ultimate Alliance used in store I'll probably pick it up.

Considering they used to pack MUA in with 360s you can find an abundance of used copies for dirt cheap.
I want that Mulan McNugget sauce, Morty!

Yeah, they were packing it with a version of Forza Motorsport, if memory serves. I got the MUA:Gold Edition for the 360 for like $20 or so at Gamestop. Regular copies are cheaper but having 8 bonus characters keeps it interesting for me until this September when MUA2 releases. The series seems to be growing from its roots of X-Men Legends.

it's interesting that they're using Civil War as the backdrop for the game. it'd be cool if they let it lead into a Secret Invasion game. THAT would be a cool game. just beating the **** out of Skrulls.

Another trailer on YouTube. It seems promising.

I hope Super Skrull is more of a challenge in this game... that is, if he does make an appearance again in MUA2. But I stopped reading a little bit after...*** SPOILERS ***
            Captain America was killed.
            *** END SPOILERS ***
And haven't read all of the issues in Civil War, so I don't know all the details.

Though from what it looks like, you pick a side after the Attack on Latveria (I am assuming that's the game's "tutorial mission" like all of the games in this series has from XM:L on down). Too bad some of my MUA1 favorites aren't going to be in it as playables. I hope they don't nurf Hulk, his stats are erm...incredible (heh) in MUA. He's one of the few heavy-hitters you just can't go wrong with to have him on the team...include him with the Classic Avengers team and well...holy hell.

EDIT: You have X-Men Origins: Wolverine? Lucky punk, you

Not to side track off the topic at hand but, to comment on the movie I loved it. My only peeve with it was....

I hated what they did with Deadpool at the end. I loved his attitude in the beginning, right when he opened his mouth on the chopper with James and Victor I was like "IT'S DEADPOOL! then at the end I was like "Awww...."

I've been thinking of getting the game but...err...my budget. Again, I need to get my income like it used to be to get ready for MUA2. I'm currently going through MUA with a team-up of Ms. Marvel, Luke Cage, Deadpool and I'm kind of trading up the fourth person between Hulk and Moon Knight in different levels. Too bad Ms. Marvel and Moon Knight may not be playable in the sequel it seems like.

Secret Invasion? Bleh. Give me Planet Hulk game, or at least World War Hulk. Hell WWH even leads right into Secret Invasion.

Planet Hulk and WWH were a pretty good series to the best of my knowledge, I don't know about making a game out of it though. But I did like the Skrulls involvement in the first game and that they didn't use the Ultimate universe, as misleading as the game's title may sound (I ain't big on the Ultimate universe)

Hmmm....not sure if I care for some of the characters here. This is generally who is on what side. A few I don't care for, but from what it sounds like choosing a side will have consequences besides just which characters can be used on your team in the story (again, I'm guessing it mostly affects the ending).

                      Pro-Reg:

                      -Iron-Man
                      -Mr. Fantastic
                      -Songbird

                      Anti-Reg:

                      -Captain America
                      -Luke Cage
                      -Iron Fist

Seem to be able to take either side in the game:

                      -Daredevil
                      -Green Goblin
                      -Spider-Man
                      -Venom
                      -Human Torch
                      -Invisible Woman
                      -Thing
                      -Hulk
                      -Deadpool
-Juggernaut (only available by pre-order with Gamestop. DLC later; I hope)
                      -Storm
                      -Thor
                      -Wolverine

One thing that I find interesting is that choosing a side looks like it will initially affect the Fantastic Four. The Anti-Reg choice appears that it would break them up. I don't care much for Green Goblin, Iron Fist or Songbird being in the game but maybe after I try them out they may grow on me (like Moon Knight did eventually). And there are five other spots on the character roster that seem to be...err...a secret, I guess.

I think I'm definitely going Anti-Reg on my first play-through...screw Reed Richards and his "calculations".

                        Anti-Reg:

                        -Captain America
                        -Luke Cage
                        -Iron Fist
They really didn't make it difficult to not choose this side.

Well... I don't know, I like Captain America, but I also like Iron Man. But I was always better with Cap in the first game. Combined with Hawkeye, Thor and Ms. Marvel, I had a pretty good Avengers set up in the original. Doesn't look like Hawkeye or Ms. Marvel will be in the sequel, well...as playable heroes anyways...

This is a pic I saw on the game...its from their news page. Gameplay footage (?) They also say you can destroy just about anything in the environment.

Epic, as you kids say nowadays.

My favorite super hero related game is definitely Freedom Force and I'd love a game in that same vein. Everything in the environment was a weapon and you had heroes with special abilities like speed force and flying. I don't know how these things will be handled in this game but if I get the same feeling of power while still being challenged then I'm cool with it.

Man, Thor looks awesome in that picture... Well... It looks like it is a major ramp-up from the engine that was used in the original, as well as the X-Men Legends games. MUA let you grab weapons around and even use improvised weapons but it wasn't quite like Freedom Force. But I do like the idea of having Hulk or Thing on the team and seeing what they can do in the environment. From a screenshot, you may even be able to lift cars and throw em at enemy mobs (there is a screenshot with Thing doing this, I think, and I'm trying to find it).
