Ronald D. Moore's Virtuality airs this Friday

After Ron Moore finished Battlestar Galactica a while ago, he started work on a pilot for a new potential series called Virtuality. This article on io9 goes in-depth on it, but basically it's a series about a team of people on a 10 year space mission to save Earth that use a holodeck-esque system to keep themselves from going crazy, but something starts going wrong.

It's supposed to be his most complicated, challenging project yet, which is probably why FOX decided that maybe it didn't want to make a series out of it and basically decided to air the pilot in the middle of summer on a Friday when no one would watch it. IF it does get enough of an audience they might decide to make a series out of it, but FOX and Moore are doubtful that's what will happen. But at least we get to see what they WERE able to make!

If you want a taste of it, there's a sample posted online here.

Everyone's too busy watching Transformers to even reply to this topic.

Yes, that's exactly what every other science fiction show is like.

I didn't like it. But then I didn't like the BSG miniseries the first time I saw it so who's to know. But I could've done without all the reality show trappings like the confessionals and the promos for the show. And aside from the evil holodeck all the drama comes from who's hooking up with whom. I could give two shakes.
I want that Mulan McNugget sauce, Morty!

Just finished it and while I won't get into details here, I think it was great.

Is it on one of the online TV sites?

They just put it up on Hulu. Not that it matters since the ratings were crap~

I wandered across it, and was treated to some 10-15 minute long sequence of characters sitting down, doing nothing that I could figure out, and then one of them put on some VR goggles and a glove and started SLOWLY propelling a thing with exploding bullets in space.

                        it was tedious and stupid.

They were slingshotting around Neptune out of the solar system.

Because, in a future advanced past ours, pointless manual manipulation of something that could and should be automated with the press of a button or less, is totally convincing in a reality setting.

                            **** sucked.
