II got the GBA game from Gamestop the other day, and so far I think its pretty good. I love the way the battle system is designed, but I can't say much about the story.....because I''m stuck in the Sol Sanctum area at the beginning of the game. Also, the "silent hero" thing is annoying. But the game is still good. to me.

Re: i now have Golden Sun
The puzzle based gameplay was cut and above the standard RPG fare but I don't know why they bothered even writing a plot given how hallow the thing is. The characters are really dumb and boring, the badguys are like team rocket stupid, and you don't see enough of the good guy turned anti-hero until the sequel to actually care about him.
And did anyone else find themselves subconsciously bouncing up and down when the characters spoke?
The DS game looks pretty good and if they keep the gameplay the same with some cool powers and maybe put a little extra effort in writing because that's like 50% of an RPG then I'll be satisfied.

Re: i now have Golden Sun
I would say, as I told someone in AIM last week or so, that Golden Sun was a diamond in the rough back when the GBA was just starting to crank out the solid RPGs. It probably hasn't aged well given the bazillion fun/charming/pretty games that are out now for the GBA and DS, but it had its time and place and it was a blast to play way back when.
The sequel didn't end well. Kind of a flop in that respect."Mindless killing doesn't do a lot for me anymore." - Sampson

Re: i now have Golden Sun
It did conclude the story somewhat at the end of Golden Sun 2, but also left loose threads and an ending that made way for the possibility for another sequal.Originally posted by Vonwert View PostDid the sequel ever conclude or at least continue the story from the first one? It was a huge cliffhanger at the end of the first game.
And don't listen to these other jaded gamers D13, Golden Sun is still a highly enjoyable game, even to this day.Last edited by Zeroth; 06-20-2009, 11:37 PM.Twothorp was in immense pain. The blisters did not care.
