    411/419 email scam...



    Found this in my email. I want to have some fun, so this is what I replied back with:

    "Dear Mr. Zuma,

    I am very excited to hear of this offer! I always had a feeling I would be rewarded soon for my good life I have lived so far! My full name is John R. Garret, but you can call me Johnny. As for my telephone number, I don't have one right now because I am in the process of moving, but I should have a telephone by next week. Please send me some details on your proposition!
    Have a nice day!

    Please reply soon!"

    Of course, John R. Garret is a completely random name I just made up. His email was sent to me May 19th, so I hope it isn't too late for him to reply back...

    So he's an engineer working for the energy department of South Africa now?


    And just think...a little over half a decade ago, he was a prince in Nairobi or something. Oh how the mighty have fallen.

      What's funny is how some international engineer wants me to help him with something across the world, but I'd have to be somebody important for that to even be plausible. They are getting worse with their introductory stories. My personal favorite is the poor refugee who's father left millions of dollars and recently died scenario.

        Man, they didn't even try to come up with some zaney sounding plan. Lazy South Africa. Lazy.
        The Cyclops having only one eye, needed to seek shelter from the harsh sun. The shadow cast by the spheres gave him temporary respite.

          There's whole forums dedicated to punking e-mail scammers. One famous case had them convincing a scammer to go into Darfur to pick up his money.

            Did you read about the scammer who got scammed into carving a wooden replica of a Commodore 64 computer? Now that's justice!

                I don't think I'll be hearing back from my friend Mr. Zuma (but I do want to go play Zuma deluxe, now...)

                Also, I think I might be getting scammed again...this time it's a slightly more convincing person, or maybe not. I need the help of all you detective conans here at the pavilion. Here's the first email I got from the person (which actually sounds kinda normal):

                Sounds normal, right? Well I wrote her back saying hello and nice to meet ya and that sorta stuff. I'll post up what she(?) replied back with soon.

                  The best scam I ever read about was the guy who got the scammer to record an audio book of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy--twice.

                    Those stories are always entertaining, but I don't think I'd be that heartless.
                    Anyway, here's the reply:
