    Photoshop question.

I'm resizing this image for work and I was curious about whether you could make it a vector image. Go here to see what I'm trying to fix.

The Cyclops having only one eye, needed to seek shelter from the harsh sun. The shadow cast by the spheres gave him temporary respite.

i don't think there's any magic button that will turn all of that into vectors, at least not from my experience. You'd quite literally have to go in and redo them all on your own.

If you just want it to look better when you shrink it, change it from Linear compression to Cubic. Or I could do it, if you want.
    ...and that's why.

Sejon did it for me once, but it was a mostly line art and he was just "I made it a vector image too." So I have no idea how to make something into a vector image which is why I'm asking how.

I have Illustrator which has the LiveTrace feature. I can do it for you. You want it in SVG format?

I'd actually prefer learning how to do it myself. But now I'm crunched for time so yeah that'd be great. As far as formats I guess whatever works best so long as I can upload it to flickr or photobucket.

I can turn it back into raster image if that's easier, the vector is about 25MBs. Did you want it the same scale as the blurred image on your link?

As for doing it yourself in Photoshop, I wasn't aware PS could handle vectors. So I have no clue on that.

I use Photoshop as a catchall for all of the Adobe Suite programs. I've got Illustrator too. The deal is that the blog they use for the site limits the size of images or something and the chick that did the upload did something to stretch it and make it look horrible. At first I just resized it but the she told me about the size limit so I thought I'd try to make it a vector so they could stretch it and not loose resolution.

So the image itself only has to be 200x240 and I'm hoping when they stretch it it'll still look good. Of course the event this is for is for Saturday so it's probably not worth it anymore, but I'd like still like to know how to do this myself so if the same issue comes up later I don't have to get someone else to do it for me.

Is the size limit on the file itself, or on how big it can be on the site? If the second, they can use a large image and use HTML to change the size of its display on the site.

I'm not sure. Here's the source code.

                    <img class="inset" style="width: 392px; height: 472px" height="472" alt="”description”" src=" http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2438/3608000090_b6915395e8_m.jpg" width="392" align="right" />

                      Re: Photoshop question.

Okay, they are manually changing the size of the image through HTML, which probably means the size limit is on the file itself and not on the display of it.

Since the image size is supposed to be 200x240, and the HTML is making it 300 something x 400 something, i'm assuming its the file size they are worrying about.

I don't really know how to do what you are asking, letting them use a small image and stretch it without it looking terrible. I only know how to do it the other way, "squeezing" it so a muddy looking big image looks good small.

I think you should deal with Chrono and his SVG file. Scalable Vector Graphics work good for what you are asking.

By the way Chrono, can you recommend a program that can convert SVG files to something PS or Fireworks can use?

The only way to turn that into a vector would be to trace it in illustrator by hand or use the live trace tool (which I would no suggest because it usually comes out like ****).

The best way is to use the pen tool in illustrator and go over it. Once you have a vector image you can save it as a bitmap or leave it vector, but you can't easily go bitmap to vector without it looking like poop (unless of course you trace it by hand).
