    Top 5 drive-thru restaurants

While I disagree w/ the list, the only reason I'm posting this is because I've never heard or heard the term "anal carnage." And it's appropriately used (White Castle farts are the worst I've ever had to experience).

Back in my day, the only reason I knew of Jack In The Box is cuz its tainted meat killed a little girl on 60 minutes.

I figured you had Anal Carnage plenty of times.

I lived in the San Joaquin valley for most of my life and Jack-in-the-box, Sonic and In-n-Out were all pretty common. Del Taco is the only franchise I'd never heard of. The car culture is so dominant in SoCal that it doesn't surprise me that there'd be some decent "fast food" joints that stuck around. I always thought Me 'n Ed's Pizza was a lot more ubiquitous, but the furthest one I've seen out of the valley is in Los Banos, none in the bay.

Never heard of In-N-Out before, I'm not sure about Del Taco... I may have eaten there before, not sure. Out of the five mentioned only Sonic and White Castle are in my area. Don't eat at White Castle because their food is horrible. Sonic is pretty good though. Mmm, I love their chocolate malts.

Los banos? Who in their right mind would name a city, "The Bathrooms?"

@ Jamos: White Castle's food is not horrible. It's not "good," but that's part of what makes it good. Sounds weird, but it's true.

It's shorthand for "The Springs of something-or-other". Usually I'm driving through it too fast to read the Welcome sign. It was named before the word had that connotation, but hell if it doesn't fit the town to a tee.

Edit: Somewhat related to the drive-thru's, especially Sonic and In-n-Out is a franchise called Fat Jack's. It harkens back to the '50s where you brought your car to be seen and to see what other people were doing with their hot rods and customs. To this day, I've never driven by a Fat Jack's and not seen at least 4-5 classics parked outside. Their food's decent too.

It means "the baths," not "the bathrooms."

Whenever I'm speaking Spanish to a customer at work, and they ask where the bathroom is, they refer to it as el bano. Of course, the n has a tilde over the top.

On topic, what about Dog 'n Suds? Are those even around anymore? I still get one liter glass bottles of Dog 'n Suds root beer, orange cream, and regular cream soda at the grocery store near here, but I'm not sure if any of the restaurants are still open.

Bath is baņo. Bathroom is cuarto de baņo. I'm pretty sure it's just shortened to baņo, usually.

And I like Hardee's. Just wish we still had one near here.

Only one on that list near me is Sonic. And they're okay, but goddamn will you be ****ting later that day.

That's what I used when I was last down in Ensenada. Guy pointed out the restroom when I asked. Did my thing. All was well.

I'm surprised Del Taco topped In-N-Out.

I got to try the west coast staples while I was traveling. Mm-mmm.

Sonic's just a fun place with good food. Del Taco I actually had while I was in eastern Montana, because I hadn't tried it yet and I knew I wouldn't be seeing another one, and damnit their food was tasty, but not as good as Taco Bueno or Taco Mayo. =3

Aaaaaand what, no Braum's? **** that.

Although it's amusing that the first comment brings the place up.
