    Your first electronic device

Curious as to what the first electronic device you purchased with your own money was.

Mine, if I'm not mistaken, was this:

I later bought my first CD player (in boombox form) from a Sears store, surprisingly enough. This was in college down at the U of I in Champaign. I'd already purchased about 10 CDs before I'd even owned a CD player. Did the same thing with DVD and Xbox 360...I owned a few DVDs and Xbox 360 games before I even owned their respective devices.

So what about you, fellow Pavvies?

I bought a $4 no name walkman in newfoundland when I was 8.. it was white, teal and purple. I dropped it while riding my bike... still worked for awhile.

First cassette with my money I dunno, last cassette was Natalie Imbruglia

I bought a cassette deck/single disc CD player when I was around 13, I think. Before that I used my parent's stereo system or the sony cassette walkman that was a hand-me-down.

The first album I bought on my own was "Flood" from They Might be Giants.

I bought a Sony Discman to use on the way to and from school. Some douchebag stole it my senior year. Too bad I'll never find out who did it, unless we invent time travel.

The first CD I ever bought was Beck's Odelay. I'd say I made a good purchase.

Gee, that's a good question. I think it was a Dreamcast I was saving up for back in '99.

I forget the brand, but I had a discman.

Damn thing skipped from the slightest bump, but it also had an option to not skip. But then it just ate batteries too quick when that was on.

lol the first thing i ever bought was a black tv - the tv i still use for my gaming. its a huge clunky monstrosity that cost me 400 bucks. it has to be well over 10 years old. other then that the first electronic device i ever owned was a walkman i got for my like 8th birthday. i had 3 tapes for them too.

Thank you Ωbright for the sig fix!

It was either the portable cassette player/radio with the detachable speakers I picked up for $40 or the cheapo walkman which I think came with headsets. The boombox was a total piece of crap and never worked right, and it chewed up a few of my tapes. The old small boombox I got from my parents when I was about 13 worked better, and I still have it in a corner somewhere. I got rid of the crappy boombox after I got my good stereo which plays CDs and tapes, but I kept the speakers. The walkman was good though, I haven't used it in years, but I still have it and I'm pretty sure it still works.

I usually don't buy stuff I can't use, though I picked up 1 or 2 CDs before I got my CD player. I have been considering picking up some 360 games even though I don't have one just in case I get one after the games become hard to find. Still not sure about going with a 360 or PS3 though.

When I was 16 I worked all summer cutting grass at a summer camp.

With the money I earned, I bought a small color TV from Radio Shack which stopped working 1 month after I bought it. Since it was a display model, I couldn't take it back.

I also bought a yamaha keyboard. A PSS... something something. It still works, even after being found sticking out of MY NEIGHBOR'S garbage, outside my apartment building.

...it just wouldn't allow me to watch bad 50's sci fi movies at 4 AM.
