Abstract
We have discovered distinctive red/gray chips in all the samples we have studied of the dust produced by the destruction of the World Trade Center. Examination of four of these samples, collected from separate sites, is reported in this paper. These red/gray chips show marked similarities in all four samples. One sample was collected by a Manhattan resident about ten minutes after the collapse of the second WTC Tower, two the next day, and a fourth about a week later. The properties of these chips were analyzed using optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray energy dispersive spectroscopy (XEDS), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The red material contains grains approximately 100 nm across which are largely iron oxide, while aluminum is contained in tiny plate-like structures. Separation of components using methyl ethyl ketone demonstrated that elemental aluminum is present. The iron oxide and aluminum are intimately mixed in the red material. When ignited in a DSC device the chips exhibit large but narrow exotherms occurring at approximately 430 °C, far below the normal ignition temperature for conventional thermite. Numerous iron-rich spheres are clearly observed in the residue following the ignition of these peculiar red/gray chips. The red portion of these chips is found to be an unreacted thermitic material and highly energetic.

Very interesting... it still doesn't provide all the answers as to what happened, but the official explanation becomes that much more unconvincing.

Certainly not proof that WTC7 was demolished with explosives, but it is valid evidence to support such an arguement.

I'm a bit skeptical, seeing as every author but the first two are simply the standard old "9-11 truthers" who have been railing on the cause for years now. (The second is also in this biased position, but he at least has a science degree). Basicially we have to beleive conspiracy theorists, who have been trying ever since the event to say something other than a plane took down the towers, when they say this dust is totally legit.

It makes little sense for them to have blown WTC7 8 hours after the impacts of the two jets.

It could have also been possible that suicide bombers were present in the WTC building during the attack.

I mean, if you can orchestrate the hijacking of 3 planes, why not throw a few suicidals in the mix?

I don't understand why so many people are poking fun at this subject.

While the information presented may not be proof in support of a given conspiracy theory, it is certainly proof that our government and media have repeatedly lied to us about this event in our history. I can only speculate the reasons we are being lied to, but the fact still remains that we are being lied to. I do find it interesting that a growing number of Americans will accept the truth and that members of our own government are beginning to speak about this.

there is no conspiracy. if you sift a huge area of that size then of course you are going to find weird chemicals and all kinds of things. there could just as easy be a logical conclusion for why that was there or it could be a lie made up by some less then savoury folks like most "news" organizations do.

why do you try so hard to find some kind of secret government cover up? a bunch of disillusioned weirdos hijacked a plane and turned it into a weapon. they crashed it into a US symbol of power and the resulting damage took down 3 towers, damaged the pentagon, and wasted a field. there is no secret plot, no hidden agenda, just a tragic event carried out by a brainwashed cult.

if you look hard enough at anything you can come up with any reason or rational you desire. the more you want something to be the more likely it is you will see it that way. believing that something is a certain way does not make it true. finding thermite does not make it unilateral proof of the government lieing.
