Are they any good? Moved into a new place, yadda, yadda.

Ive got a choice between running a 100foot long $80 CAT6 cable down a hallway from my router tacking it along the wall out to my 360 in the living room, or I can pay $100 and just cram a wireless adapter into my 360 and try to mooch off my wireless router across the house.

Ive never trusted wireless anything. I still have fond memories of always being cutoff by everything around me, and my wireless connection barely working on cloudy days for some reason. BAH.

You jerks have any experience with the adapter? Does it make things pretty laggy? Does it cutoff alot unless it has a straight shot to the router?

I have the official adapter. I'm upstairs, my router is in the living room downstairs. my 360 is also at the front of the house, and the router is at the back of the house. it works fine.

once in a blue moon, It won't connect when I start the system. I'll have to unplug the adapter and plug it back in a few times, or restart the 360. this isnt the fault of the adapter, but my router, which is about 5 years old, and hates everything.

I've never experienced lag when playing online games. downloads are actually faster than the PS3 (which is also on wifi), and I can use the netflix service just fine. I've only ever had it stop once to buffer, and that was in the middle of a big electrical storm. not that it matters to you. lol canada, and so on.

tis reliable.

It works just fine for me. Only real problem with it is it's freaking price.

My buddy uses a D-Link or Linksys (I forget which...meh...six of one, half a dozen of the other) USB wifi adapter (Wireless N, I'm pretty sure...the 360 one is wireless G), and he does not have a problem using something other than the "official" Microsoft one. Plus, they're a hell of a lot cheaper. And his case is almost the same as Valk's...his 360 is in the basement, and his wireless router is upstairs on the other side of the house.

I have the $100 Microsoft one. I'm downstairs, the router is upstairs, but I'm not the best person to ask, because I of course do not play games online...HURR HURR.

Once I finally get around to getting my 360, I may try Internet Connection Sharing on my laptop since it's cheaper (I may still get the adapter since I already have a wireless router though) :thumbs

linksys is terrible and should be avoided.

i had a linksys router. a lot of times, it would just quit working, so unplugging and plugging the power for it was needed now and then.

my Belkin router is working better so far.

So wait...you've got one of those gamertag banner things in your sig, and don't even have a 360 yet?

You can still make a gamertag from xbox.com without owning a 360.

I am well aware of that, as his thing says, "Last seen on Xbox.com."

Doesn't make it any less buddy-esque.

I'm bad with the buddy, minotaur, etc, emotes. I hope I used it correctly.

I can't even remember how the buddy emote originated. :happy

The adapter works. Getting the CONTROLLER to work with games... is another matter entirely. x3

Whats wrong with the controllers?

Mora hasn't learned about that sync button yet. So he just plays with a wired controller.

No, but every time I try to get a game like Half-Life or Team Fortress to play nice with the controller, it becomes a battle.

I used a 50 foot ethernet cable to get on xbox live, but it woudl always mess up for Halo and a few other online games. I was thinking maybe the longer the cord is, the harder it is to keep a connection. That's how it was for me, of course, maybe that was my internet causing the problems...
