Review: The game premise as you can probably tell is a battle of checkers between you and a friend. At the start of the game you are able to choose if you want to play the traditional checkers or try one of the many checker challenges.
Upon selecting, you are then able to choose from 3 different themes - adding a nice touch to the traditional board game. After you load up the appropriate card with the theme then you are able to play checkers, taking turns till one side is victorious.
I tried extremely hard to break the engine in each of the challenges and themes and was unable to break it even once. Even for someone like myself who has limited checkers experience I was able to pick it up fast as the game refused to let me cheat or to make any move other then a legal one. The game even realizes when a player has won; prompting a tiny event scene based on the theme you choose to play.
The biggest gripe I had besides having the very boring RPG Maker background music (the music was generic and bland without any changes to tempo or effect) was when you get to the point where you select the stage. It loads up the new scenario data and once you decide to quit then it loads up the first data and so on. This load time was unnecessary and could have easily been duplicated onto each scenario card to cut down on the time the player spent waiting for the data to load twice.
Otherwise I enjoyed the game and found its execution to be top notch. I’d give the game a solid 8.5 out of 10 as it was well done and simple.
