Square no like chrono trigger fans making remakes/sequels.

I remember the 3D chrono trigger remake that got shut down. But it wasn't a full game, just key scenes.

Someone was actually making a new CT game with their own original story.

Obviously, this guy didn't learn from Square's other legal action towards the 3D CT. I never heard about this new one til today, but he must have been talking about it the entire time.

it was using their code, their sprites, all their assets. of course they had a right to take action. and of course, anyone wanting to play it would have to steal the game.

That's what I was thinking. On the other hand, cutting away to play as Magus and Frog on their own journeys like the trailer suggets is a really cool idea.

I dunno... I'm not convinced the game was gonna be great, or even good. But don't people do this kind of thing with other games all the time?

I've noticed a few edits to existing sprites, but everything else seemed exactly the same. I don't get how it took 5 years to begin with. It's not like they were starting completely from scratch.

It's pretty easy to do a rom hack of Chrono Trigger. There's a program similar to the PC RPGM series that lets you do it effortlessly.

whew, it's a good thing I didn't name my game "Final Fantasy " whatever. My RPGM3 game is heavily influenced by several games in the series, and I plan to remake my game on another platform when I have the ability to do so some day. I want everyone to play my game.

Valk's right. It's copyright infringement, and very little of SE's games are obscure abandonware, given how many rereleases and remakes and whatever they're doing. CT is hardly difficult to obtain legally.
