The handbook for the 84-student Christian school says rock music "is part of the counterculture which seeks to implant seeds of rebellion in young people's hearts and minds."

Clearly, the School Boards deserves to be B-slapped for that stupid statement.

It happened in a Christian "school" in Ohio. Is it really that surprising?

I'm torn here. Ultimately I feel he shouldn't be suspended, but remember that his parents willingly signed him up for this... thing masquerading as a school, and now they're the ones complaining.

1) The prom is being put on by the school and therefore all of their rules should apply there if the administration wants them to. If he wants to spend the night with his girlfriend, he probably should skip prom. Prom sucks anyhow.

2) Institutions which spend their time enforcing patently ludicrous rules like "no rock music" and "boys and girls must remain separate" should not be recognized as schools, and as such should not be allowed to issue diplomas that are recognized by jobs/colleges and should not qualify for vouchers, tax breaks, etc. This of course would make the diploma issue moot!

3) No schools should be allowed to enforce rules like "no hand holding" or "no kissing"--this is Freedom of Expression and even a business would be on dicey ground if it tried to enforce such a rule. Not like such petty things as the Bill of Rights have stopped Private OR Public schools from trampling on minor's rights forever, but it's food for thought.

No its not.

He's going to a prom put on by a public high school. The Christian school wants to limit his behavior outside of their institution.

Yet another example of religion attempting to control peoples' lives.
