...because they tried to scam me on my old savings account and I called them out on it.
I'd closed a savings account I had with them back in January (interest rates suck, maintenance fees about, etc.). Last week, I checked my online statement and found that someone decided to re-open it this month without my permission and retroactively charge me a horde of fees because I'd no cash in it (minimum balance for the account is $300). I called to complain, and they reversed the charges but still haven't re-closed the account.
Turns out I'd still $0.03 left in there when I closed it. Despite my joking with the representative that I wasn't really hard up for three pennies, he said they BoA was legally obligated to mail me the excess. The stamp to mail it to me costs 40 cents, not to mention the cost of the envelope, the paper the check is printed on, the ink to print it, etc...
I'm thinking of cashing it in just for kicks. I need to think up something to say when I approach the teller.
