I recently (by which I mean FINALLY) got around to playing KH2. It was my 1st playthrough, and things usually went fine. but there're a few boss fights that had me cursing the day away.
The 3 boss fights were: the dragon-thing in the land of dragons (I don't remember the name, but you know the one: Big, flying, blu, ugly yellow mouth, etc.), Xaldin in beast's castle, and Genie Jafar. Each of these 3 fights had reaction command requirements that infuriated me.
Dragon Heartless: Apparently, I had to step onto a whirlwind press :triangle , then press :triangle again to jump up onto the beast's back. The problem? The boss had a tendency to MOVE OUT OF THE WAY EVERY 7 OUT OF 8 ATTEMPTS. To make matters worse, the boss felt like routenly summoning walls that closed in on my party while it stood outside, waited for the walls to stop, and nuked my party with a big nasty blast.
Eventually, I was able to kill the boss. It only took me 3 tries :shakefist .
Xaldin: Okay, so I just have to hit :triangle , then press :x to jump onto Xaldin and slash away. Easy, right? WRONG! Xaldin seems to know he's in a video game, so he jumps around kicking my party's ass nonstop for at least 15 seconds. To make matters worse, sometimes he jumps beyond reach of the platform and hits my party with a blash I absolutely CANNOT dodge or defend against. For every second I damaged Xaldin, there were about 10 seconds of ass-whooping for me. If it weren't for the fact that MP recharges automatically and my Cura spell was able to heal all 3 party members, I wouldn't have defeated Xaldin I would've had to resort to insane level grinding.
Genie Jafar: I've saved the worst for last. This Boss fight was the most painful so far. No Drives, no Summons, no Limits, and no Party Members. I had to fly around on a stupid carpet which took a while to get the hang of. Oh, and let's not forget the fact that Jafar likes to unleash a hell of a lot of fireballs and other attacks on you! I tried I don't know how many times to take this guy. At one point, I thought I was winning, but wouldn't you know it, Jafar started this big annoying sequence in which he stands (or floats) beyond your reach, creating this big black void around the area and tossing various debree at me. I got so aggravated at one point that I had to resort to GameFaqs. GAMEFAQS, PEOPLE!!! DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW EMBARRASING IT IS TO HAVE TO GO TO GAMEFAQS ON YOUR FIRST PLAYTHROUGH?! I would've marveled at the boss fight's design...If it weren't for the ass-whooping I received.
So yeah, Spuare-Enix? I have something I want to show you.... :middlefinger
