    Crank: High Voltage

    Anyone gonna see this one?

I already saw it and thought it was better than the previous entry.

It's still a no-brainer action flick, but it's weird and entertaining as hell.

Anyone who watched and enjoyed the first will enjoy this one.

Everyone else will be treated to a funny and strange journey.

Looks as stupid as the first one was. I'll stick with Transporter.

Not a fan of Jason Statham. Something about him just rubs me the wrong way.

Jason Statham might as well be the 2000s version of Van Damme or Seagal.

You know, I'm kinda inclined to believe that.

You telling me you never watched a Van Damme movie just to laugh at how bad it was?

The Rock is satisfied making Disney flicks.

Vin Diesel is satisfied making video games.

                    ...And superheroes don't count.

So at least someone is making a career out of stupid action movies these days.

I should like to point you to the Grump Factory's grump of Crank.

Because it sums up my feelings pretty well. I don't care to see the sequel because it demeans some of the things I like about the original. But I'll watch it anyway.

My coworkers and I were giggling about the tag line we saw in the paper yesterday.

What about Lock Stock And Two Smoking Barrels, or Snatch? There was nothing Van Damme'ish about those roles. The guy has a certain charisma I like.

And Transporter the first was great. I have no desire to see any of his other movies though.

Never saw either of those. If I choose to watch a movie with tough guys in some caper plot or some such, I'm gonna watch one by Tarantino, not one by Tarantino-lite (Madonna's ex(?) husband.)

Only reason those films were made and popular was because everyone wanted their Tarantino fix, and he was taking his sweet time making his next movie (which was probably Jackie Brown, a far superior film).

I was living in England at the time LSTSB came out, and I loved it, never having heard of Guy Richie before. After seeing that I was anticipating the release of Snatch, which I also greatly enjoyed.

I wouldn't say its fair to compare him to Quinten, the two have very different styles.

In both films, none of the main characters are tough guy criminals, so that element doesnt really exist. In LSTSB they are a group of low profile hustlers (card shark, fence(Statham) and one guys a chef).
