Wow, Gamestop Just Can't Stay Out Of The News.

I always get ****** when they hand me a used game as new. It looks like employees may be playing the "new" games before selling them. Fun.

saw that story last night as soon as I got home from picking up Valkyria Chronicles from gamestop, where they attempted to give me a "new" copy with a mangled manual. they really wanted me to believe that it's new as long as the disc isnt scratched. I yelled a LOT and they gave me one that actually looked new.

of course, with PS3 games its almost impossible to tell if a game is really new or not, with the scratch-resistant coating they put on the discs. wouldnt be surprised if they're just putting games that come in and look new up for sale as such.

and there's no "may be" with the playing new games situation. they do it.

I honestly can't say that I'm surprised. Remember when I told you the other day I lost a save file on a GBA game that I bought new? Come to think of it, it was the same situation where it was a "display copy". It ****** me off especially since I mastered the said game and lost everything.

Aren't the new games plastic wrapped?

I have known about this for years. The only thing that will come about from this recent development is that they will revoke employees privilege to try out games. Then, they will reduce their employee discount down to 5%. Then, continue to have apathetic employees "Gut" display copies and scratch the discs by mishandling them. Then, charge full new price for said scratched games with sun-rotted inserts, stickers, and grease from children's hands all over the packaging. Then, they will continue to sell used copies of the same game that is $59.99 for $58.99.

Yeah, if they ever try to sell me a display copy as new, my reaction is usually something along the lines of, "Go **** yourself."

Yawn, this isn't really news to me. Don't care too much, though. As long as my game is okay then I'm happy.

                Seriously.

                Can't believe this is news.

Just... please, stop shopping there, everybody.

If I had another option, I'd take it. I have to drive two cities away just to find a Gamestop. Otherwise my selection is whatever Target has.

The ones behind the counter are. If you pick up a "new" game from the rack they toss a disc sleeve with a rubber band attached to a manual into the case then seal it with that big ugly sticker.

One year I got Castlevania Lament of Innocence for chrismas. It was obviously gutted, and had the notoriously hard to remove price sticker on it, which was 49.99. Not to mention the two things that hold in the manual, one was broken off.

Don't get me wrong, I was happy to get it as a gift, but the fact they charged my Dad full price for a game that was obviously used irked the **** out of me.
