So I've been out of the (technology) loop for quite some time...

So if I wanted to put some songs on an SD card in a folder, to be played in Windows Media Player and/or iTunes, and have it play them in a specified order, how would I go about this?

I spent a good few hours putting together a playlist for Windows Media Player, but it seems apparent that if I give the playlist to someone else, it'll probably not work, as I'm only specifying a file path on my own computer. I'm guessing when I made and exported an iTunes playlist, as long as another person imports the same songs into iTunes on their computer, the playlist will queue up as I've intended.

So is there ANY way, short of asking someone which media player they use (I kinda want the whole thing to be a surprise) to make a Windows Media Player playlist that'll work on another PC?

One last question...why is it that after I go and put all the MP3s in a folder in the order that I want them, it keeps rearranging them without me even doing anything (I've already screwed around with the settings to sort by name, date, track number, etc, and none of those keep the tracks in the order I want). And when I take the entire folder and put it into Windows Media Player, it puts all of the tracks in some stupid order that I do not want.

And all this modern technology is supposed to make our lives easier.

        Yes Karr.

What kind of order Perv? You could create a play list, which is just a separate file that references the songs (so they have to be in the same position relative to the play list when it was saved, like in the same folder). Or you could just order them by a certain property, like album title, or artist, or whatever.

I like to randomize my play lists. I use WinAmp.
