    A most dreadful condition, indeed

Wouldn't it be just the worst if you ended up being paralyzed from the ankles down? That's really the epitome of the saying, "Close, but no cigar." The frustration of almost being able to walk but just not making it would make it so much worse than being paralyzed down from any other part of the body.

I mean, sure you could still play 'hide the toothpick,' but why would you want to if you couldn't moon walk right before?

      ^This.
In the beginning the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and is widely considered as a bad move.

You probably could walk with paralyzed feet. I mean if people are able to walk with prosthetics that just have a big foot shaped chunk of wood or whatever for feet then I don't see why not. Especially since, unlike them, you'd still have the whole functioning leg.

Cut the ankles off and get pegs, or jet feet.

Try walking without using your toes. You can't. Now try walking without using your ankles. Impossible. No, you surely couldn't walk without control of your ankle and your toes. No no no, surely surely not.

Prosthesic feet would function better than paralyzed feet and ankles because they're sturdy. Maybe if you tried to keep your lame ankles and toes sturdy by gluing popsicle sticks in the right place, maybe one could try to walk funny...but oh no, I surely doubt that. Those popsicle sticks aren't as reliable as one'd think.
