Re: "She wasn't delusional, because she was following a religion"

Answering to a leader called Queen Antoinette, they denied a 16-month-old boy food and water because he did not say "Amen" at mealtimes. After he died, they prayed over his body for days, expecting a resurrection, then packed it into a suitcase with mothballs. They left it in a shed in Philadelphia, where it remained for a year before detectives found it last spring.

[The boy's mother, Ria] Ramkissoon, 22, has agreed to plead guilty to a lesser charge on one condition: The charges against her must be dropped if her son, Javon Thompson, is resurrected.
    Seems only fair.

Interesting condition. Course they'll find some other kid, or maybe a bug and claim that the son came back as that.

this is a prime reason why damaging cults should be outlawed. there is a fine line between religion and cults. freedom unfortunately allows humanity to chain itself as it wishes.

The only difference between a cult and a religion is the number of people following them.

"Men never do evil so completely as when they do it from religious conviction."

It's a quote I found online that I was going to use in my game. I think it fits pretty well in this thread.

"At times there can be an overlap between extreme religious conviction and delusion," said Robert Jay Lifton, a cult expert and psychiatrist who lectures at Harvard Medical School. "It's a difficult area for psychiatry and the legal system."

I mean, there's not much else left to say.

Cults are radical, while most religions try to behave. Honestly, this woman is completely out of her ****ing mind. Sane people don't deprive children of water, regardless of one's religion. Sane people also don't think that they are going to bring someone back to life, nor do they stash them in a suite cases and carry them around for months. Most importantly we should really stop with the insanity plea because these people deserve punishment. GOD!

Sane people do not think they are drinking the blood of a 2000 year old God.

Really, Sampson? Are you really going to compare that to that? Now you are being silly.
