    Need info about Phoenix, Arizona....

I'm moving to Phoenix soon to attend Devry there, because they have the Game and Simulation design program I want to attend there, but apartments and condos there look really expensive for the size of place we need(we have a lot of stuff and they don't build vertically there much because of the heat).

Does anybody know what the average hourly wage for restaurant work is out there? I need a good part time job to help pay the bills, my wife earns a lot of money, but to keep our lifestyle it looks like I'll have to make a bit more...

Currently I make about a buck and a half better than the average hourly wage here in Ohio for non-management restaurant workers, I'm hoping to pick up a raise out there though, just kinda wondering if it's possible.

Also, any advice as to what neighborhoods/cities/areas to avoid living in? We got a lot of nice stuff and I'm really picky about keeping all of it. Any help at all would be much appreciated, as this is our first major move on our own and were a bit scared we'll end up in a bad part of town or paying way too much for a crap place.
Took me 15 minutes to remember how to change my signature, and this is all I came up with.

Of everyone here, Ryu would probably be able to give you the best answers.

EDIT: And Terr, because he has like... infinite resources.

I live in phoenix right now attending AIPX in a game art degree.

Thats a doosey, Ive lived in three places and my car has been broken into or stolen from at all those places.

If you have the money, condos and apartments in scottdale AZ is the way to go. Devry is across the road from my school so the drive from scottsdale isnt bad at all.

Hourly wages are much larger then the east coast. I went from walmart in WV making 5.85$ an hour to 9.00$ an hour out here. And the students who work at restraunts make alot more then that.

Awesome. I have lots of management experience so I know I can land a restaurant job and hack it well, but I needed to make sure the hourlys were high enough to support the kind of place we want. Scottsdale DOES seem ideal at this point, but still a bit expensive. Chandler is the other place that seems reasonable, is it nice as well?

I worked for a game company in chandler, and drove there about twice a week. I didnt see much of chandler, but it seemed nice. Its about a 45 minute drive, excluding rush hours traffic. Rush hour traffic out here is retarded and takes forever. They dont know how to drive vehicles in AZ, so be ready.

Like from my thoughts, phoenix is lower class (with the exception of certain areas), chandler is middle class, tempe is a college town so you can assume what you want about that, and scottsdale is upper class.

Phoenix sucks worse than Vegas(where i live) in the summer, too god damned hot.

Yeah, all the travel guides mention that no one uses a turn signal. And that that is acceptable there for some reason. That'll drive me batty for sure.
