    Interested In Creating a RPGM2 or a RPGM3 Game

I really enjoy these softwares I just can't get any really original game ideas flowing or fresh in my mind.

Just make up anything. Your first game doesn't have to be a masterpiece. Just experiment and start creating stuff.

I would suggest 3 since it is a lot easier than 2.

Listen to Vonwert, that's very good advice.

Just go through and find some character portraits that you really like, start building some characters around those, make a world map that you like a lot, and BAM. You have some characters and a setting to work with. Starting with something is way easier than starting with nothing.

Just don't do what I've been doing for the past 2+ years, which is turn on RPGM3 for "inspiration" without having concrete ideas of exactly what you want to do, and then while sitting and thinking, end up dozing off and accomplishing nothing.

My advice for ideas would be to start going back through some of the older RPGM General forum posts (maybe by going backwards from the first page) and/or RPGM3 Workshop threads (if this is the software you choose to work with) just to spark some ideas. It might end up being helpful in that you will probably learn some little trick or something that you had never considered, which might then spark an idea or something based on incorporating said trick.

Or you also could, you know, download other people's games from the site, try them, see what works and what doesn't/what you like and what you don't. This again might spark some ideas of your own. For example, after playing a few RPGM3 games, including playtesting my behemoth (15-20+ hours) of a first effort, the idea was sparked in me that I wanted to try to avoid utilizing random battles in any games that I might make thereafter. To me, the random encounters, and to a lesser extent, battles in general, in RPGM3 are really just not all that fun. And so far, I've been able to hold up that end of the bargain.

For some good yuks, you might also want to try some of the "garbage" games to see exactly what you should avoid doing.

And finally, check out some of the Pavilion members' Development Studios....errr....Game Forums (sorry, I know this isn't the Mag ), especially ones with a decent amount of activity and/or posts, as this might spark some ideas as well.

Two caveats: The Bush Forum is mainly a social forum now, and even though simple man's forum has a TON of posts/threads, try to avoid it unless you REALLY want to see what NOT to do, or conversely, to have a good laugh at simple man's expense.

I find listening to music can help with idea's for storylines.

I agree 100%!! Music can really help with coming up with ideas, especially characters and their backstories. I always listen to the radio when working on my games.
