    Upconverting DVDs; PS3 vs 360 HD-DVD

Which does a better job? I'd prefer to use the 360 HD-DVD add on, so as to possibly save my PS3's lifespan somewhat, but my two major issues with the add on are,

    1) EVERY TIME I play ANYTHING (HD-DVD or DVD) on it, the audio sync is terrible. As far as I know, the settings on the 360 and receiver are as good as I can get them, and I'm outputting via Toslink (fiber optic) to my receiver. My PS3 is configured exactly the same way (audio output via Toslink), and I've never had an issue with audio sync being a problem.

    2) I've only watched a few DVDs using the HD-DVD add on (well, the only one I remember is the first disc of season one of Veronica Mars), and it (Veronica Mars) looked VERY soft. I remember adjusting some settings and whatnot, and it didn't help. I've watched plenty of DVDs on my PS3, and, while some looked better than others, I've yet to have one look as soft as what the 360 output. Granted, it MIGHT be the DVD itself, not the player (I've not tried it in my PS3, or if I have, I do not remember it looking so soft).

So, Mora, what words of wisdom can you give me?

      Erm...not QUITE what I meant.

Although, she is a bit tender.

EDIT: I liked the first pic better.

For picture quality, i couldn't tell a difference.

However, the 360's disc drive will **** up more and skip the movie (or won't play it at all), so I prefer the PS3 for watching movies.

Perversion, why are you asking if you already have seen which does the better job?

Because I was hoping you'd be able to give me another reference point, as you've also probably seen DVDs on both players yourself. Just wanted to know if it was just me or something. Also, Mora, serious question...have you ever had problems with audio sync? I for the life of me cannot figure out why every DVD/HD-DVD I play has sync issues, and yet the PS3 has never had a problem.

Occasionally, but not with either system. The most you can do is put a delay in your receiver or something.
