    GDC on G4 March 25th

Just wanted to remind everyone. I thought I missed it while watching X Play today.

Wonder if there'll be any big revelations at the event. Bet we won't get the big stuff until E3.

    um, it started today.

big announcements are not made at GDC, since it's not really for that type of thing. the name says it all. game developers conference. it's a conference for game developers. mostly to talk about different things. see speeches made by big successful game developers. share ideas and technology.

the big events this year are Satoru Iwata and Hideo Kojima's keynote speeches. Iwata's is titled "Discovering New Development Opportunities" and Kojima's is "Solid Game Design: Making the ‘Impossible’ Possible".

you seem to have a very wrong idea of what GDC is. seems like X-play does too.

I finally understand what this is. However, I do not care for it as I'm not going to pay precious money just to watch X-Play and an everyday marathon of Cops and Cheaters.

        Re: GDC in 3 days.

Last time I watched X-Play about GDC was them complaining endlessly about how boring it is.

        Well, duh.

Kojima's is "Solid Game Design: Making the ‘Impossible’ Possible".
        Does that include Nanomachines?

Thanks for the clarification, Valk. Maybe G4 begins broadcasting coverage on the event on March 25. That's what they probably ment.

Nothing like not knowing what you're talking about.

There was a big article on the front page of Kotaku talking about "Onlive," something announced at GDC that would allow you to play PC or console games on your TV, computer or Mac. And I was like "wat" and clicked the article and the page timed out, and then they removed it.

I swear I saw it. Or I have narcolepsy.

                Google FTW

                http://venturebeat.com/2009/03/23/st...d-upside-down/

Perlman, a serial entrepreneur whose startup credits include WebTV and Mova, says his Palo Alto, Calif.-based company has developed a data compression technology and an accompanying online game service that allows game computation to be done in distant servers, rather than on game consoles or high-end computers. So rather than buying games at stores, gamers could play them across the network — without downloading them.
I see this being controversial and failing miserably.

That's exactly the way I figured it would work. And unless you live right next to them I predict the controller lag will be bad.

It sounds great on paper, but I bet they'll run into huge snags once it goes public.

What's really sad is that almost all of the games they have advertised in the pictures are twitchy shooters or platformers that require precision and timing that will be hilariously difficult to pull off when you're basically watching it through a laggy youtube quality video.
