Very neat. Made me feel like I was playing Braid. But...

I think it would have been neater if you found your dead body below the first cliff instead of back at the grave. But then it wouldn't be so apparent what you were trying to do because I didn't pay attention to the grave in the beginning.

Orpheus with a gun? Sounds like Hollywood's got it's next big summer blockbuster.

Hell took his wife. This summer Johnny Orpheus is taking her back. Don't Look Back, or he'll just have to put a bullet between your eyes.

The Cyclops having only one eye, needed to seek shelter from the harsh sun. The shadow cast by the spheres gave him temporary respite.

I played this a few days ago. I wasn't very impressed by the gameplay; I always wish Flash games would use wasd for moving and then g and h for jumping and attacking- but I really liked the stylized graphics and atmosphere.

                SPOILERS AHEAD!
                *** SPOILERS ***
While fleeing from Aristaeus (son of Apollo), Eurydice ran into a nest of snakes which bit her fatally on her heel. Distraught, Orpheus played such sad songs and sang so mournfully that all the nymphs and gods wept. On their advice, Orpheus traveled to the underworld and by his music softened the hearts of Hades and Persephone (he was the only person ever to do so), who agreed to allow Eurydice to return with him to earth on one condition: he should walk in front of her and not look back until they both had reached the upper world. He set off with Eurydice following and in his anxiety as soon as he reached the upper world he turned to look at her, forgetting that both needed to be in the upper world, and she vanished for the second time, but now forever. How sad... As seen on Wikipedia

That sounds better, but I think it's based off what I wrote.

                    Re: Don't Look Back

                    okay... get this

i just made a game where you run through four screens and they repeat once you run through the last screen

you see it's commentary on how pointless life is and you're running around in circles.

this ties in with the sumerian legend of gilgamesh who fought butz in final fantasy 5.

the game is called running right and it's a satire of modern sidescrollers. it's really smart and intelligent and if you don't get the point you're probably too stupid to understand it.

You know a real American Hero wouldn't just quote wikipedia word for word and try to pass it off as his own words

                      .

Yeah Gloomy, my interpretation was the same as yours. The game is based on the myth, but isn't strictly a re-telling of it.

I like to think that the protagonist is this overweight, aging classical literature professor and he has this fantasy where he's the hero his favorite story, all jumping off cliffs and shooting Cerberus in the asshole, and ultimately he just has to accept his wife is dead and get back to grading papers.

Guh, I suck at keyboard platforming too. After Cerberus I had enough.

Besides we already played the Orpheus myth.

It took me awhile, but I got through it. It was pretty fun, the best part was the music.
