    ARGH (used games)

So I found a used copy of "no more heroes" for the Wii. It was only $13, which I could not resist.

For some reason, I didn't check the disc like I normally do. When I got home, I found a ring of filth around the center of the game disc. It's like someone set the world's grimiest coffee cup on it.

Not only that, but the edges of the disc have small, half-circle marks/indentions. I don't care about the grime (I cleaned it off), but this bothers me. I'm wary of using it, but I REALLY want to play this game.

Would it still be safe to play?

Feel free to share your used game horror stories, too.

It should be okay to play.

If you're wary, you can always get those pastes that fix
CD scratches. I've used them before to buff them out.
Then my games play like normal.

I've seen those go as low as like $5 at Wal-Mart.

Fortunately, I've never had that problem with used games.

I found a copy of Clocktower and Way of the Samurai in EBgames, and as usually I forgot to check the discs.

Both were scratched to heck. I only was able to get Way of the Samurai to play with the help of the banana trick.

The things that are on the disc will go inside the system, and possibly screw it up.

          So I wouldn't use it.

This is my favorite horror story. ****ing Danny.

For the record, it's not scratched at all. It has tiny half-circle type marks around the edges of the disc, like someone was carving little slivers of the disc off. The marks are small, but noticeable. I wouldn't want to use any type of disc filler stuff for this.

Yeah, that's what I was worried about.

I'm extra bummed because I've been looking for this game for a while, and was really excited about playing it. I know they don't have another copy, and since they rarely show up used, I doubt I'll be playing this anytime soon.

They're packaging it priced-down with Red Steel soon. Maybe you can get it then.

I would not take the risk with the disc in the condition that it is in, and would return it.

It appears as though you can find new copies of No More Heroes on Amazon for $16.

There aren't any places nearby renting it? I think most people could beat it in one rental.

I don't really rent games. I do borrow them from friends sometimes, but I don't know anyone else that owns a Wii. :3

Thanks for the advice, John and Jeff. $16 + shipping for a brand new copy sounds pretty nice.
