The game's been leaked for those of you with low moral fiber.
Lemme guess, this game is Pokemon Diamond and Sapphire or whatever the hell the last two Pokemon games Nintendo released into one single product, right? Like, you can finally get the half dozen pokemon that are "exclusive" in one game without buying 2 copies, 2 DS's, and playing through both of them to trade.
Only Nintendo can get away with packaging the same game three times on the same console and people still buy it.
I wish that they would make a simpler Pokemon game where there is only one copy of the game, and you could catch and breed every pokemon in that game. No need to link up. You have a complete game where you can fill your pokedex and there's no need to hack or buy two copies of the game and a second DS. And while we're at it let's make things even simpler and bring the total number of pokemon to a simple number like 300. Go back to the roots, and make the game more accessible.
This will never happen, though. Nintendo (GameFreak) has been able to sell two copies of the same game at the same time (double revenue!!!) since the GameBoy days so they're not going to stop anytime soon.

I think i'm going to skip this one, but i still havent decided yet. Or i may just get it later. I beat Pokemon Diamond, but i didnt finish all of the after game stuff.

The fact that you can trade online mostly alleviates the problem of version exclusive Pokemon.
When you play the game competitively, rather than to 'catch em' all' you would want there to be even more kinds of Pokemon than the nearly 500 that already exist. Just collecting stopped being fun after the first generation anyway. It is the roots of the series that is hindering the series from reaching greater potential in the first place.
The biggest hindrance to pokemon competitions IMO is the archaic level based system which allows for little variation. There's so many rules and regulations like banned pokemon, level restrictions, and crap like that which alienate people.
I wish pokemon adapted a system of training similar to Monster Rancher in terms of training so every pokemon wouldn't be the same (except for small random factors and whatever techniques you teach them).
They could create a points based system where stats equal a certain amount of points. The higher your pokemons stats, the more points they're worth. Competitions would have a point rating (500 points for example) and you can submit pokemon up to that limit. Over trained your pokemon? Give them a handicap item or something to lower their stats.
A uniform way of training monsters would make competitions more fun IMO. I'm drawing my ideas from years of war gaming so I'm sure every video gamer will instantly disagree.
