    Golden Path

    That's the working title.

I've mentioned at this idea before to very harsh criticism and reject, but I keep having booze fueled hangover fantasies about it so I'm re-pitching my idea:

Its basically the Wizard of Oz for RM3.

Dorothy will be an archer (99.9% Elf, as it looks like a woman...) and general Red Mage (Healer with some attack magic) for the group.

Toto will be the "fighter" (Dog/Cat/etc. C2) until you build the whole party and is replaced by Lion.

Scarecrow will be a blue mage with decent attack (Jester, C1) so he can fight, but shouldn't.

Tin Man will be the bruiser fighter (Knight, C3) and equipped with an axe.

Lion will be the fighter who can't hit as hard (that weird little animal C1) and has the special ability to run away cuz he's cowardly.

The game will be story driven (cuz it is for RM3) and levels will be more like rewards for gaining party members and advancing the story, as well as helping out the people of Oz along the way: find the lolipop guild a lolipop, steal apples from the trees, etc. I'm sure I will toss in an "Upgrade Shop" so that the player can (if he/she wants) get better weapons. Maybe even throw in a couple alternate endings just for fun.

It sounds okay, man. It's the kind of thing I'd pick up and play if I were bored one afternoon.

I think RM3 could at least be good for telling this kind of story in a believable way. Gameplay sounds average, could be fun. Be sure to keep the random battles to an absolute minimum.

Storyline battles only, and as I'm using a program with set parameters, I do not see how I can affect "gameplay" at all.

"Gameplay" is a lot more than just battles. The only "set parameters" in RM3 pertain to battles, and even THEN, there's a lot you can do to spice things up.

Good luck with that. I can't wait to kill the wicked witch final boss by throwing a bucket of water at her!

Well, I got a few changes since I finally got RM3 running this morning!

First off, Lion is now a werewolf model 3. Its easier to make him have a weapon than having to rearange accessories around a character that doesn't use weapons.

I also gave each character 6 skills/magic spells and playtested a little to try and make Dorothy (archer) as effective as my fron row attackers.

I still need to organize the abilities a little bit better and rework some of the major events, and hopfully not need to watch the movie to do it!

Cool to see that you're still working on this Magus. I hope your game-making experience turns out to be fun. The Wizard of Oz is definitely an interesting idea.

You could even have the gorilla model be the head of the flying monkeys or something.

The "sand" tiles on the field would pass nicely for the yellow brick road.

I was thinking of the gorilla idea, and I hadn't gotten to fooling with the map to see what looked closest to "Yellow Brick" but that'll do! A lot of it is heavily dependant on the playing using his/her imagination, and I don't know if I can get anything close to what I want yet, but I'm chipping away at it, slowly...
