Not a major issue, but wondering...

...why, with my new sig, half the time there's the words and the picture, and the quote, edit, etc, button right underneath, and half the time, there's this big gap of blank gray space before the bottom of the post.


EDIT: In this post, there's the big gap, but in other posts, there is no blank space.

EDIT 2: Now, there's a line under everything, the time of edit, etc, stuff, and then a smaller gap. What's going on?

wait. I think I know what you're talking about.

the space between the sig's bottom and the quick access buttons.

if you look at my above post, that is the smallest post table the forum can generate. so there's a decent-sized gap between the bottom of my sig and the buttons. the post field simply cannot be any smaller, and thats the reason for the gap. my post just isnt big enough to take up all the space.

however, with THIS post, you'll notice there isnt that big of a gap. because the post takes up more space now, and the forum has generated a larger table to accomodate it. so the gap is smaller.

when you edit a post, a line is automatically added at the bottom of your post, with the edit stamp below. if your post was already using the smallest possible table, this inserted line will help fill out the used space, decreasing the gap.

did I get it?

by the way, the smallest table size is decided by the height of your avatar, how many badges you have under your name, and if you have one or two rows of goblis. when I said the "smallest possible table", I was referring to the smallest possible table it could generate for me (or you) with those factors.

Yup. That makes perfect sense now. I guess I just never noticed it before, possibly because my new avatar is bigger (150x150), and therefore takes up more space. The posts in question were probably one line responses. Which is another reason I've never noticed this, because most of my posts, as you are well aware, are "walls of text."
