North by South by East by West by.......bleh!

Because I despise how tiny the field maps make the game world feel, I've begun work on a game project that doesn't use one. I plan to accomplish this by using dungeons and "towns" (they're just towns made to look like parts of an area. I connect them all using events at the ends of town and on portions of dungeons.

But the problem is, I don't know how to change the "direction" of the compass on the screen. I need everything to match up in proper proportion, or it'll look broken. Any help would be nice.

I've been thinking about this post. There is no way to change the direction of the compass, but you can spin the placement of the town around on the field map. Also, you can have the dungeon entrance determine your starting position by deciding (when you place the actual door in the dungeon editor) to have the dungeon entrance be either N, S, E, or W.

I wouldn't get too bent out of shape about it though. Just make the areas match up as much as possible.
