I don't think it's gonna happen, myself. But it's all fairly coincidental. This certainly has more stock into it, than say... the Y2K scare.

This is a really old clip. They were talking about severe escalations (military conflict wise) in the "2008-2009 time frame," to the extent of small-scale nuclear war.

Unless somebody starts dropping nukes in the next 10 months, I'm gonna cry foul.

You of all people, Toaster, should know that the world is actually scheduled to end on January 31, 2010.

Seriously though, I don't put any stock in these prophecies. I'm a lot more worried about an unlucky celestial event or widespread genocide, and I don't think people are going to see those coming until a year or two before they happen.

I don't think it's been prophesized by any major person anywhere that the world would end in 2012. The Mayan calendar stops in 2012, nothing more, nothing less. The Mayans couldn't do an infinite calendar, they had to stop somewhere. It's a big coincidence that they gave up their calendar to the point of 2012. I'm sure if the Mayans were bored, they would've made the calendar go on longer. Hell, I have a 2009 calendar at my desk at work. I probably could've bought a 2010 calendar, but I didn't. It doesn't mean the world will end in 2010, I just don't see a point looking that far ahead, just like the Mayans probably didn't see a point in looking passed 2012, it's not like any of them would be around to see 2012 anyway.

Of course, I could be wrong about the Mayans, but I think it's nothing.

We have bigger problems to worry about.

Now, depending on which society you ask, everyone has a different opinion on 2012. Most societies agree that SOMETHING will happen, but nobody knows what. Some believe the next age of mankind will begin. Others believe that something will happen to boost communication to a level never thought of before. Some even believe that psychic powers will awaken in everyone. For all we know, some sort of cool technology could be invented that will change everything. If something is even going to happen in 2012, no one can say what.
