I mourn...(now with chili pics)

After 5 wonderful years of owning her, we had to put my dog Rommie down tonight. She started having accidents in the house, so we thought she might have a bladder infection, so we took her to the vet earlier in the week when she stopped eating, and the vet did blood tests and scans and discovered she was anemic, and that she had tumors that had spread from her spleen that were going to be innoperable. She started going downhill very quickly, and today she couldnt eat drink or walk, so we took her to a vet tonight and had her put to sleep.

I miss her already.

When I was twelve I lost a dog to a similar fassion. She had cancer all throughout her body, she could barely walk, until we'd leave her at the vet, then she'd give all her effort to get up and come to us. Thinking back on it makes me...... ;______;

Words cannot begin to describe how horrible it is to lose a beloved pet. I can understand how you feel, having lost pets in the past. The intense anger and sadness that just radiates throughout one's body. The "what you should have done" and the "why did this happen?" coursing through the mind. My recent pet who is maybe 10-11 years old was diagnosed with a terminal illness. I think it is a genetic disorder which produces too much steriods in the body. Causes tumors and frequent seizures. She was given a year to live and she has surpassed that by 4-5 years. She was a lucky one, but she could still go any day. Everytime I leave the house and return home I fear seeing her dead on the ground. Dammit, I'm getting all teary eyed. However, when things get too much for her there is one thing that must be done. Don't think for a second that you did the wrong thing. I commend you for giving your dog a good life then doing what had to be done. Sometimes we must make hard decisions for those that we love. Whether it be pet or not. It won't be easy, however I know you can get through this. I wish you the best, buddy.

Thanks everyone, i appreciate the sentiments. I know that she knows that we loved her, and we were with her up to the very end. It was hard, but we stayed with her, comforting her while they gave her the shot. We kept her collar on her too until we knew she was gone, she loved her collar and hated taking it off, so until the very end, she knew that she was part of our family.

I'm a pretty emotional guy, so its hard not to cry still, and if i think too hard on it i will still start to cry.

She was a great dog, and LOVED Wendy's Chili, i'll post the pics of that once i can find them.

my condolences for lossing a loved one. its always difficult to loose a pet, because they are part of the family. ive always had a difficult time with death, and have had a few of my pets die unexpectantly due to illness.
