Not Happy With Nintendo Screwing High Def Support? Say Something About It!

Nintendo confirmed recently that they have no plans to add High-Definition support for Revolution, stating that the system's graphics will look great without it and that it would make it more expensive for developers as well as the consumer.

It seems, though, that a large number of gamers are not happy about their decision at all.

Fortunately, a window of opportunity for these people has opened up.

I don't have any problems with this myself, but if anyone here is upset about it, now's your chance to email Nintendo's Customer Service Department to tell them why you'd like HD support for Revolution and how seriously it would affect the chances of your getting one otherwise.

    Here be the address: nintendo@noa.com

How're we supposed to download Nintendo's entire backlog of games without an HD...?

Um, not HD as in "Hard Disk". HD as in "High-Definition".

And the games are saved onto Flash memory.

WHAT?! I totally need HD!! Res Evil 4 would've been even MORE perfect if it had it.

......I could care less. I cant even afford games...much less a High definition TV.

I hope they dont include it, it will only make the system more expensive.

Matt Cassamassina needs to STFU. NOA has no controll over this type of thing. How about a campaign to bring some of Nintendo's Japan only games over? HD > games!

Screw HD support. I probably won't have HD by the time the Revolution is phased out, anyways.

Personally, I don't see what the big deal is with HD, myself. It's a luxury at the moment, and it would go against their all-access plan.

Re: Not Happy With Nintendo Screwing High Def Support? Say Something About It!

Games can be more detailed, have a higher frame rate and developed faster if developers do not have to worry about HD. It also rises the cost of the Revolution in ways that are unnecessary for people who can't afford or just don't care for HD (like me).

It used to be the case where new consoles were incompatible with its past generations (couldn't plug a NES cartridge onto an SNES console), but the trend seems to be changing. All new generations will be backwards-compatible to all of its past generations. This means that if Nintendo wants to go HD when it considers the market ripe enough, it could release both/either a new console which is equivalent except for added HD support, and/or an HD hardware add-on (provided it is possible).

Nope, don't care. Personally I agree that games look good enough without HD. Maybe it only matters for people with especially large TVs, as I can see how things might look more pixellated on a large screen. But I've got a 20-inch TV (and will hopefully getting a 30-inch widescreen TV soon), and my games look just fine. Well, maybe not N64/PS1 games, but they ran on lower resolutions anyway.

yeah id say HD only really effects those with a 30+ inch screen.

I'd complain to Nintendo, but HD is pretty much for rich rich folk at the moment. Even my family, which I'd consider to be upper class, doesn't have the moolah for an HDTV box.

Now that I remember, I may have read somewhere that the Revolution can be connected to a VGA display? I wonder if some of you remember that fact, or if I'm imagining visions. VGA offers better resolution than standard TV, and it's much more widely available.

Nintendo did say that at lest year's E3 and at GDC.

I don't think the next gen systems are even ready for HD. I see where Nintendo is coming from. Running a game in HD takes up system resources. Not running a game in HD means you can have higher polygon counts and smaller textures that still look good. The end result will be better looking games with smoother framerates. Requiring developers to run their games in HD is the reason you hear a lot of people complaining about 360 games not looking much better than Xbox games.
