    The Oscars

I figured it was only a matter of time before a topic popped up regarding the Academy Awards, so....

What do you think so far?

How is Hugh doing as host?

I'm sure there will be debating over the winners soon enough......

P.S.- props to the shout out by jackman that Dark Night should have been nominated for best picture

I wasn't even aware it was on today.

*edit* lol, they went through clips for best animated feature, and not one of the films looked any different than the rest.

That musical skit was scathingly bland.
        ...and that's why.

I'm glad Ledger and Wall-E won their respective Oscars.

            Re: The Oscars

I really like the idea of having past winners present this year's awards.

I'll admit I am such a sap... the Heath thing got to me.

And Seth and James had me cracking up.

              Re: The Oscars

I didn't see any of the big films so that was all ho-hum for me. I'm glad Heath Ledger got the oscar but I'd rather have heard from Christopher Nolan than generic thanks by his family. The whole thing was anti-climatic after all the build up. I don't think anyone was surprised by it. Still I'm glad it happened.

Jackman's best line was the one about Australia.
The Cyclops having only one eye, needed to seek shelter from the harsh sun. The shadow cast by the spheres gave him temporary respite.

I guess Kate Winslet won. That makes me happy, I guess.

EDIT: Yes, Mr. B. Wire, I like Kate Winslet.

                    Re: The Oscars

yay, Benjamin Button won barely nothing and Slumdog won almost everything. I am satisfied.

                      Re: The Oscars

I called Slumdog winning Best Picture. No one could shut up about it; hardly a surprise that it won, really. Every year some movie comes along just before award season and makes the collective panties of critics wet, Slumdog just happened to be it this time. Doesn't really matter to me, though. Still not going to see it or any of the other Best Picture nominees save maybe Frost/Nixon.

I just looked at the Best Music(Song) category... Slumdog was nominated ****ing twice in just that one category. Looked like someone wanted it to win as many as possible.

Honestly Riot, it was a good movie, and the music did have a major influence on the emotion it derived from its audiences

The Action Movies segment was the best part because that was the best stuff Hollywood put out this year.
