I Finally Got A PS3.

Yeah. I usually don't get the extra money to get a new system until they are a few years old. This time is no exception. I got a PS3, finally.

I bought mine used, because I wanted to be able to play PS2 games, and that was the only way I could see that happening. I put an extended warranty on it, though. Mine is the 80GB model, however I have an extra 160GB hard drive so sometime tonight that's what it will have.

There are so many games and download content I want to get it will take a long time to catch up. As of right now I bought Armored Core 4 for myself and Devil May Cry 4 for my wife.

Oh, and some time tonight I'll be putting Linux on it too, which means I'll need to get a wireless keyboard and mouse.

I'm having a ton of fun with this thing. I'm so happy to finally have one.

Make sure you get AC4:For Answer eventually. Waaaaaaay better than AC4.

I will, but I'm assuming that you import your AC4 mechs into ACFA? I should wait then until I finish this.

Edit: How many missions does For Answer have? It's just an expansion for AC4, right?

actually, just your schematics. it's not a full save import like the old games.

Its alot like saving your different AC designs in the old games. For Answer is pretty wicked though. Way better missions, some really awesome new parts, longer missions, the massive Arms Forts, etc. Pretty sure theres a demo you can download of this level. The demo has alot of slowdown and framerate drops though that arent in the actual game.



DMC4 is pretty awesome too though. Great over the top crazy action.

You should definitely buy Uncharted: Drakes Fortune. It is basically like playing a movie, and is actually better than a lot of movies out there, imho.

I'd really like to hear what you think of Linux running on the PS3. Which version are you installing?

Linux on the PS3 is like a slow computer, so far as I can tell.

Probably Xubuntu, though I may just customize my own Ubuntu install to make it as fast as possible.

The Linux side of the PS3 will only be as slow as the version of Linux you put on it. A lot of people load more demanding Linux versions on it, which to me is just plain silly.

It's a tturn-based third person shooter RPG. You can find a demo for download on PSN.

Everyday Shooter and Super Stardust HD are also great games you can download off PSN.

I, too, recommend Uncharted and Little Big Planet (Even if you just like the idea of playing other people's levels).

For disc-based PS3 games, Valkyria Chronicles would be my first recommendation. For downloadable games, I'd also recommend Everyday Shooter, as well as PixelJunk Monsters and PixelJunk Eden. And for chillout "Zen" games, flOw is recommended, but the newly-released flower even moreso. And if you enjoy tower defense games, the newly released Savage Moon is really good, but brutally difficult. And if you do not have a PSP, Lumines Supernova might also be worth looking into.

For upcoming games, keep a lookout for Heavy Rain (which I foresee as being the PS3 GOTY if that honor doesn't go to flower).
