Haunting Ground 2....Should I Try It?

I know, I know, fan made games kinda suck...but I have a pretty good story idea for this...I think. (I already have a good chunk of this planned out).

I just want to know if anyone's intrigured by this idea.

In a nutshell, it's about a young woman named Vanya who gets called to Europe by her grandmother, but utlimately ends up in Castle Belli, and is chased by new persuers.

All this actually started when I wrote a just-for-fun fake article about this game.

Hey 162, I don't think this is being ignored or anything, it just seems like a slightly bizarre thing to go for in RPG Maker. In my case, it's not something I'd be likely to love, but that's solely out of personal preference. I actually wiki'd Haunting Ground the day you posted, because I had no idea what it was... and looked like an interesting game, but just totally not my type of thing.

Anyhow, it's not so much what interest others have at this point, but whether you can make a good game out of it. Because if you can, go for it, and the audiences will definitely come once you start spilling some details. Objectively, I think it could be a good idea for a game.

Thank you very much for your opinion, Wavelength....but after thinking about it, I don't think I can pull this off.

However, I would be happy to elaborate of some of the would-be details.

This game would follow a young woman named Vanya Dreyfus, who had been called to a castle in Europe by her grandmother, Ingrid Dreyfus, with whom she has had very little contact over the years. Vanya sucessfully arrives in the European countryside, but has some car trouble on a back road. Vanya travels to a nearby farm to seek help and finds a young man tending to the fields with a scythe. To her shock, the man ends up attacking her, forcing her to take shelter in a nearby castle.

In the game, the player could still use stealth, but would also have a more combative edge than in the first game. (Meaning you can also fight off the persuers, rather than just hide/escape.) I also have a few ideas for persuers.

Lucas: the guy who chased Vanya into the castle. Weilds a big-ass scythe and likes to hide/pop out from watered areas. (Also looks kinda like a drowned corpse.)

Anika: a little girl (or at least appears to be one) who wears a doll face-like mask and swings a meat cleaver. She states that "all she wants to do is play with Vanya."

Benedict: a man who appears to work in the medical field (as is made apparent when Vanya first finds him in a doctor's office at some point). He also seems to have a bone to pick with Vanya (although she doesn't have a clue why. He weilds a syringe that if stabbed with, Vanya enters a sluggish, drugged state where Benedict can move in and finish her off with a scalpal.

As you can tell, I kinda thought this out already. (...Okay, I didn't mean for that to sound so egotistical.) But like I said, I don't think I can pull it off. Besides, I need to focus on my main games.

Well, I agree this would be hard to pull off. I will say this though--focusing on your "main game" is overrated! Take it from me: getting something out there (no matter how small), after all the years I spent wondering I would ever successfully release something... that's an incredibly rewarding and liberating feeling.

While I dislike Haunting Ground quite a bit, this game sounds interesting. However, I don't see as to why it has to be a sequel to the game. I'm generally against making fan sequels... or whatever you would call them. Because no matter how good it is, it will always be known as a fanboy/girl game. Now I would think it would be neat to see you pull this game off, just suggest calling it something else. I'm sure you would be able to come up with a pretty good name for it.

Well, the thing is, this story is connected to the first game. But I also have another idea to easily adapt the basic story of this to another setting. Basically, Vanya would go to a small, island community instead.

I also had another idea for a survival horror game that kinda used this sort of story.

It's called Seventh Spectrum, and I put a post about it here.

I downloaded the free software from this website, but I just can't figure it out. (Computer language just kills me.) I had the storyline all figured out (I even wrote some of the script), but, well, y'know....

Problem is, if I put out one game and then the other, the storyline could easliy be figured out. (Plus, people would say "Oh this game is just like that other game. What a cheap little jerk" or something like that.)

            So....yeah....huge-assed dilemma.
